Try to understand it: You're 16 years old (girl), you've never had sex before. You're on the cheerleading squad, and alot of the older, cooler cheerleaders have sex, and talk about it. This young, innocent girl could be easily fooled into having sex, but your saying "Duh, she should have never went to the dance with that guy." When you're young and vulnerable, and perhaps don't know any better, there are ways that young girls can get tricked into having sex, and with that, the potential to getting pregnant. It's assholes like you who make them think it's their own fault.

Kids shouldn't even be considering having sex at 16, nor letting themselves get into situations where they could be taken advantage of. There's no point in aruging it. Most of the people posting here are guys who have never had to feel the same pressures that women do. They don't understand how for all of history men have dominated women. They don't understand how in some countries around the world, men dictate when women will have sex, dictate when women will have a child and so on. They don't understand that abortion significantly narrows the gap between the power of men and women. Some of these same people with these thoughts (i.e. the Bush administration) were responsible for the US pulling out of the UN world population control programme which teaches safe sex and among other things advocates using condoms and abortions if necessary. Because of the lost $billions, millions of women around the world are getting pregnant because they are simply uneducated or are forced to and have no way out nor is anyone out there going to help them. When people are blindly opposing abortion so that every other problem is increased it really makes me mad.

Someone said why doesn't the woman just kick the guy below the belt if she didn't want it. Well guess what, generally guys are a lot bigger than women (esp since guys work out a lot more too). It's interesting that you used a very male response to the problem... well guess what it doesn't work like that in real life. He also said if it's incest, let them live with it. Do you realize that incest is usually a father raping a daughter?

Am I a woman? No. Do I inately know how it feels? No. Do I look around me, emphathize with others and realize that the world isn't so black and white? Yes. Do I open up my eyes to the world and see the problems that can be caused by blindly banning abortion? Yes.

I think the first trimester rule is a good one (and used in Canada), as after the first trimester the fetus is much more developed. Abortions is primarily a rights issue, and yes the mother does have rights.

So why don't we just stop running jails because people shoudlnt' be commiting crimes anyway and if crimes happens well tough shit, people should have been trying harder to not have these things happen.

Peer pressure is a dangerous thing, yes. The case that Stark mentioned is a BIT stereotypical, with the whole jock senior hooks up with cheerleader junior trying out sex for the first time scenario. Personally, if you are old enough to experiment with sex, you are old enough to know what the risks are in having sex. Still talking about concented sex here, girls aren't dumb enough to not know that having sex will always have pregnancy and disease risks. So if this cheerleader girl DID have sex that night, it would probably be wise to talk to a few friends about it, and if they are the least bit helpful, they will give some words of advice or maybe direct them to a health councillor. If she was smarter though, she would've probably anticipated that sex would be an imposed question on Prom / homecoming night, and she should've collected some info from people who have experience and knowledge on the matter, so she can prevent all the risks to the best extent that she can.

Sorry but I have absolutely no idea where that parallel comes from or how it applies. Just because I think that kids shouldn't be having sex doesn't mean that I think they won't. I do think they should have to live with the consequences and not have society brush it off especially when dealing with such serious effects. If anything, that sounds like reason to run jails... but honestly I have no idea how we go from saying "kids shouldn't be having sex" to "criminals shouldn't be commiting crimes so lets stop running jails". You deal with these things when they happen, in this case I think dealing with it should involve protecting the life that their immaturity started.

I don't have the stats or anything, but I'm fairly certain the date rape (i'm not talking about rufies or physical rape) isn't reported by like 3/4th (?) of victims, for whatever reason they have (whether it be they're scared or embarressed or blame it on themselfs and think they're at fault)


And kicking a guy in the balls, while it may hurt, could aggrivate the guy and make him like violently rape someone or whatever. It's not so easy as a swift kick in the nuts, obviously, or chances are that could be a sollution to many problems.

Personally, I don't see where to draw the line. If aborting a fetus that's not even close to human is murder, then is masturbating killing half of a life? Should I not use contraception when I have sex? Sex is for making babies, so by using a condom, I'm robbing the world of a possible life. Why draw the line with abortions?
