Was that sarcastic or genuine? What I'm saying is people are looking for all these excuses to throw back at the guy, and granted he does have a very slanted view on the world, but say for example if he was to highlight the obesity rates in America and everyone would go BUT YOU'RE A FAT FUCK TOO, it doesn't make him wrong

Why is the movie Fahrenheit 9/11 called what it is called?
It's named after that book, Farenheit 454 or something. "the temperature at which freedom burns".
-------ORIGINALLY POSTED BY DCHAO--------------------
It's Farenheit 451 by George Orwell.

On Michael Moore:
Personal attacks on Moore himself just shift attention from what's important: his movies. Okay, so he sends his kids to private school and he's fat, we get it.
I've seen 3 of his films: Roger & Me, Bowling For Columbine and Farenheit 9/11.
In terms of craftsmenship, his quote-unquote "documentary"'s have gotten better and better. The last 2 films are leaps and bounds ahead of Roger & Me.
Pro's:
-His film's are absolutely hilarious
-He tackle's important topics
-Makes convincing arguments
-Amazing footage
-Flawless cutting and pacing
Cons:
-His film's exploit people unsuspectingly
-He only shows his point-of-view
-Deceptive use of facts to (mis)guide viewer
-Unnecessary crap (the picture of the little girl to Heston, for example)
-Gives the 'Documentary' gendre less credibility
I think anyone 'on' the Michael Moore train and those shooting at it are equally stupid. He's a fantastic movie-maker and he raises discussion on important topics, whether you agree or disagree. He is a convoluted man full of contractions, and he has many admirable traits as well as many faults.
If you really hate america or love it unquestionably, you have serious issues.

Although ranking 24th is pretty bad, it is not like we are some gun-slinging society where you take your life in your hands if you step outside.
We have nearly 300,000,000 people in the USA.
300,000,000 / 1,000 = 300,000 x .04 = 12,000 Deaths
Russia has 150,000,000 people (CIA Factbook)
150,000,000 / 1,000 = 150,000.00 x .19 = 28,900 Deaths

Well what do i have to say about M Moore, i've seen F 9/11 and Bouling for Coulombine what i do have to say is that i believed BFC was a much better film that went straight to the point and that in fact had little in the way of Half Trues and sentences taken from the whole context than F 9/11. When i saw BFC i had the feeling that he had showed a true image from the us that most of people know but dont care about it!! About F 9/11 what i have to say is that besides the fact that he resorted to drama much more than on BFC he took some sentences out of context... althoug i agree with him on most of his points of view about Bush and Iraq i had the feeling that in F 9/11 i was being "taken" to believe that that's the only side of the issue...
The truth is not as straightforward has he wants us to believe in F 9/11 and the fact that he doesnt allow the other contenders "bush administration etc etc" to expose their defense diminishes the documentary as a whole. On the other side in BFC he doesnt expose his ideas on the same way at least not as single mindedly as in F 9/11. Besides that i think they are both good movies that show some of the worst things in North American society, they are something like a wake up call to all US citizens...
Yup and Bush won it again... <_<A kiss is a rosy dot over the 'i' of loving.

Basically, I was laughing at the joke I thought you were making because the way you phrased it was funny. As it turns out, I guess I was laughing for no reason!
Now that you explained it, yea, it makes sense what you said.
