I don't want to die anytime soon.. i'm 19 but I'm not afraid of eventually dying. I don't know who, how or why we're here but I can't believe in something so ridiculous and unfounded as Christianity and other major religions would want people believe and when the time comes and I get some redish looking guy poking me with a flamming stick for eternity then i'm fine with that.

I think in the next 20-30 years we're gonna have a lot more technology and understanding when it comes to death. I read that they're building a computer brain "blue brain" that will help us understand human conscious, uploading your brain onto a computer is roughly 30-40 years away...

According to many religions, we have a soul, spirit body, and physical body.

According to physics, to say there may be many more dimensions or even more Universes.

I believe reality is simply not just 3D, there is more to the Universe/reality then what we can see or currently understand.

Since we don't have all the answers with Science, then we can't assume there is no life after death. Also we can't definately say there is, no one really knows. Though many claim there is spirit world during a near death experience and with faith believe it seriously.

Perhaps, are physical body is like a Suit to house/anchor our soul/spirit to this 3D reality. So when we die, our body goes back to earth, and are soul/spirit transmigrates to a higher dimension or goes to God.

Lol, yeah when I was a kid, I use to calculate/estimate how many years I will live and find out how many seconds I have left.

Everything changes and every change is a death, which is reborn into a new life. So we will live and die forever in one form or another.

This is a sweet little proverb "Only by reason of having died does one enter into life"

Another question I want to know from you people: Does the thought of your "line" ending with you bother you? Aka, do you want to have kids? I know it's ingrained in all of us to want to have kids, (especially for guys to impregnate as many women as possible)- but I'm asking you if you want to. And if you do, is it for no other reason than to just "have a kid"? Do u know if some part of you just wants to pass something on, to have something around that shows that we existed on this rock, to sort of give a concrete reminder (at least until they are gone) that we existed?

I want to have kids, and I'm not ashamed to say a part of me wants just that. For the most part I just want to raise a family, but yes I do want to leave a genetic trail behind me before I die. How about you?
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Even though your question seems more directed towards males, I'm still going to answer. Yes, I do want to have kids, because I want to have a family and everything. That's the only reason why really, probably because I'm a girl and not a guy.

No it works for girls as well, by having a child you are still extending your bloodline. Sorry if when I said "especially for guys" it seemed like I was being biased.

Ok, well in that case, my answer still doesn't change. It's not like I'd be passing on my last name anyway, it would be my husband's last name so answers could vary if you are a male or female. But no, for me it has nothing to do with carrying on the bloodline, it's all about just having a family and kids. I would be just as happy adopting kids as actually having them myself.

I'd like to have children when I'm older (10 years) simply because I want kids but also to continue my bloodline, but it's not something i'd cry about if my bloodline were to end.

<soapbox>I tend to think most people these days have kids for completely selfish reasons. They want to continue their lineage, they want to extend their own lives through their kids, they want to have a purpose and think having kids will do that, etc. It all comes down to the same thing---me, me, me. It's fucking bullshit, because it's not as if kids really have the option to take a pass on being a part of this fucked up world.

Having said that, I'm probably going to adopt, because I think I could be a good father and role model to a child, and I would rather do something selfless like adopting than something so self-egrandizing and narcissistic like not evolving beyond my primitive need to fuck and make babies. I'm going to wait until I am financially secure enough to provide an adequate education and have a job where I can spend time with him or her, and meet a woman who shares the same philosophy about being selflessly devoted to the emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of our child.

Nothing personal to anyone, btw. It's just my personal philosophy. I respect your decisions as long as you love your kids unconditionally.</soapbox>

might i remind you, if you bring a child into the world, you are doing it against the child's wishes, and it will grow old and slowly degrade and experience pain and suffering, then die. however, if you go childless, there is no chance of suffering =)
