  • That doesn't make much sense if you think about it. . The riots started after other newspapers started to reprint the cartoons, spreading the problem far beyond Denmark to all over Europe and then the rest of the world. They claim they were doing it in support for freedom of the press, but they ignored two things that the press are supposed to remember: they have to be aware of the repercussions of what they print and the news themselves shouldn't be newsmakers.

    • Lifted from the nme boards, which was in turn lifted from somewhere else:

Is the cartoon offensive? Much like the Koran, or any ‘holy’ book, it is a matter of interpretation. It’s in the eye of the beholder.

Islam apparently prohibits the depiction of the prophet Mohammed. The cartoons did not appear in a Muslim publication. Non-Muslims are no more obliged to observe this prohibition than I, an atheist, can be expected to obey the Vatican’s ban on contraception. South Park depicted their prophet as a super hero in 2001 – no worldwide protests then? Washington’s Supreme Court building depicts Mohammed in a bas-relief frieze between Charlemagne and the Byzantine emperor Justinian. Not too many complaints there either! The justification for their anger as a contravention of Islamic holy laws is therefore just a smokescreen. On this point Muslim fury is notorious for being inconsistently exercised.

So then, examine the content of the cartoon in terms of offence. Liberals and Islamophiles, along with Muslims themselves, have chosen to interpret the cartoon as saying “All Muslims are Terrorists” – the perceived inference is that your average cornershopkeeping Muslim in the street is either a terrorist, a terrorist apologist or subscribes to a faith based upon violent atrocities against those who do not conform or agree with said religion. This however is a matter of interpretation; the cartoon in question has no tag line or written communication of any such statement.

Islam is a doctrine, like all organised religions, based upon the irrational belief of a supernatural being for which there is no evidence (NB. Men in fact write holy books). Hence the word faith. Muslim faith happens to be particularly judgmental and intolerant towards non-Islamic ‘principles’ – (the Muslim believer would prefer to spin this as categorical Faith in the ‘truth’ of Islam as the only true religion).

Despite the evidence of the last census, (70% cited Christianity as their religion), we live in a godless and secular society and whether you like it or not we live in our version of democracy. People of different faiths and religions enjoy the benefits of our freedoms and many have chosen to live in this society reaping those benefits in favour of living under the repressive and primitive conditions of their homelands (curiously often citing human rights abuses as an excuse!).

Personally I say live and let live. Your faiths and beliefs are your own and you are welcome to them. If your faith is so strong and so right then you are no doubt holier than thy and good luck to you. But I maintain the right not to have your beliefs inflicted upon me. I have no obligation to your principles. Ah… have we stumbled across the problem with organised religion. I think so? You see they can’t keep their fucking mouth shut. They have to preach. They must convert. I’m no anarchist; these days I’m not even a hedonist anymore and I except that as a species we require a moral code by which to live. Moreover here, in my country, we haven’t done too bad a job at defining that code without the supernatural judgement of an all Supreme Being. The fact is if you are a Jehovah’s witness and you knock on my door on a Sunday morning you will be told to fuck right off!

Multiculturalism is a nice dream. Ahhhh …if only we could all live together. But tolerance is a two-way thing. Unfortunately, (for them), Islam is big on conversion yet not too hot on forgiveness.

Islam in it’s most extreme form would like to assume, in Europe by virtue of immigration, the role that had been Catholicism’s in its heyday: that of an ‘official’ religion, organiser of the calendar and of mini-ceremonies marking out the passage of time, with dogmas that are sufficiently primitive and simple to be grasped by the greatest number whilst preserving sufficient ambiguity to seduce the more agile minds and claiming all the while to have the redoubtable moral superiority. Akin to most religions, Islam is nothing more than an attempt to control. However the Marxist altruism that religion is the opium of the masses needs some 21st century revision here… Islam is the crystal-meth of the masses.

So, could the cartoon be interpreted differently? Could it be that this simple doodle says that something as unsophisticated as Islam and the Koran itself is so open to interpretation and misinterpretation? That what many believe to be a peaceful religion can be twisted by extremists towards a path of violence? Or was it just a simple and spiteful attempt to stir-up the oh so fragile feelings of the poor downtrodden little Muslims and their untouchable ‘faith’? If so, job done …. Muslims are far tooo easy!! Bad Grin

This conflict isn’t between civilisations but between pre- and post-Enlightenment notions about the place of religion. Before the French Revolution, novelists and satirists mocked religion at their peril, and the struggle to free ideas from the authoritarian grasp of organised religion continued well into the 20th century. This struggle has been reborn with the rise of Islam. The line is therefore drawn. Do you surrender reason to the exercise of the irrational behaviour of religion? Which side are you on?

I hear the creak of floorboards, hark… here come the liberal youth. But before you condemn me as an Islamophobe please note that phobia means fear. I’m not frightened of them, I just don’t like the cunts telling me what to think!

      • lots of talking here...

first of all sorry for my bad english.

        now, for the subject:

the problem with the muslims who do the riots, is that they burn and kill and destroy, because someone write\laughed on them on the newspaper.

in the arab nations, if you guys dont know, there is always paints that somehow make the jewish as blood drinkers, baby eaters, blood lust and so...
most of the anti jews paints and writing come from Iran and Suriya.
they make tv shows about it...

        stilll
no one in israel or in the world, has gone into the street and burned down their embessies or throw stones and shooting in the air.
we just ignore, and fight it in the UN, making it remember and known that racisim shouldnt be allowed in the world, mostly because of what happend to us. funny is that most of the muslims probably in the middle east doesnt believe it happend.
        its all education.

Islam as been told, is a religion of peace.
look at the world today, and you can see that almost in every major conflict, there is islam involved. i dont believe its just coinsedence (shit spelling)
