I think the only anime I've ever watched that I actually enjoyed was Berserk. My m8 had some vcds burned of it he told me to watch some of it and it was pretty cool.

The other animes are too young.

Robotech owns, but only the Macross saga (the first 36 episodes). I even spent a bunch of money and got the rerelease DVDs for Robotech: The Macross Saga!

Animé rules, especially mecha type animé

- Macross Plus was a well done, very good animation.
- The Vision of Escaflwone was more crudely drawn, but still well done and had a good storyline.
- Gundam Wing was excellent, though I saw the English version. It seemed more geared toward the younger audience.

Neon Genesis Evangelion was good, but I didn't really understand it. I didn't get why the angels were attacking, whats the big deal with Lilith and Adam...

Been watching Full Metal Panic!, which is very good. It blends hand-drawn and computer generated art extremely well. Its about a year old in Japan.. i suggest you all download it.

I always hated anime before I'd ever watched more than three minutes of it at a stretch, just because it looked so exceedingly homosexual. Then one of my friends made me watch Perfect Blue. They said it would make me like anime. It didn't. It was not at all entertaining. It was like a really shitty drama movie, but a cartoon, so there couldn't even be any of the hot chicks that normally accompany a shitty drama. I always read threads like these hoping that one of you anime lovers will say that Perfect Blue is a total piece of crap, and that some other anime is better, as to maybe suggest that I should give different anime a chance, but you really seem to think that Perfect Blue is at least a medium-grade anime. Since I rated Perfect Blue a -3 on a scale of 1-10, that would make the best anime ever, whatever that is, a, like, 2 at best on a scale of 1-10. Anime sucks.


Edit: wow, I've actually seen more anime than I'd thought, now that I re-read the thread. I saw half an episode of Cowboy Bebop once, and that was shitty. I saw Akira really drunk and stoned once, and didn't like it either. I also saw an episode of the somethingorother of Escaflowne (I don't think it was vision). I think it involved winged cats or something. It was very stupid. Anime is stupid.

Oh my god, that is a huge question. I spent several years answering various theories on it.

The story, from "day one" is as follows. Long ago we had 1st Impact. This is not when the dinosaurs all died it's the theory that an asteriod collided with earth cause the moon to separate. This brought 2 possibly 3 "sources of life" to our planet. One was Adam, one was Lilith and the other possibility is the Lance, but for now we won't consider that.

Humans, or Lilim are from Lilith as "Angels" are from Adam. Adam and Lilith are not Angels themselves even though NERV refers to them as such. For our purposes to simlify things they are sources of life, similar to a mother and father.

Now the Angels, from Adam, were suppose to inherit the earth or rather become the dominant species they were other posibilities. Lilith however somehow secured the plaent for us the Lilim. Now as you can imagine, we are ourselves on the same level of the family tree as Angels. We are from Lilith, a source of life as Angel's are from Adam.

The reason the Angels are attacking now? They need to get to Adam to cause 3rd Impact and initiate a version of Instrumentality that will cause the destruction of man and reinstate the Angels as the inheritors of the earth that Adams offspring may flourish. You remebmer that 2nd Impact occured 15 years before episode one.

Some anime is very worthy, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust for example, is something to respect, Mononoke Hime, GITS are very enjoyable to watch as well.

Mainstream anime, on the other hand, is often freaky, especially with that japanese craving for homosexual relationships. 's like, ew...
