Last time I checked around in the forums on the net, Ps3 were winning big time. Nintendo took a heavy hit with GC, it didn't sell nearly as good as they thought, having to sell the GC for nothing with loss (Gameboy SP used to cost more here if I remember correct), the only way they got profit at all were from the games.

While Ps2 as always were the winner. With a gigant game libary.

When Ps2 came out, lots were buying it cause it had DVD, and lots will buy it again because it got Blue-Ray.

360 was like I predicted, shit, it's like an Xbox 1.5, they aren't selling shit in Norway, none of my friends has it, or want it. And they don't sell a shit down in Asia cause the games on it are shit, except for FPS games on it.

Tell me again why Nintendo has won the console war? I'm 100% sure that it will be a few games that's good on it, but won't have that many games because of the new way of playing with the control. Some developers are gonna have big problems making games for a thing like this.

If you want quality multiplayer games, it has always been about Nintendo. I don't see this changing any time in the near future.

Really? I had loads of fun with my 4-player PS2 games, more then I had playing smash brothers etc. My nephews own an N64 yet they bought a PS2 and they would trade it for our PS easy. If you like kiddy mario games etc Or just don't have a lot of money... nintendo is t3h best.

Please regale us with tales of how Blue-Ray is some life-changing technology, because I fail to see the reason anyone would give two shits about it (or HD-DVD for that matter).

It seems like consumer electronics companies making another format for the reason of making people buy more discs--99% of consumers are very happy with regular DVD and have already changed their movie libraries over to a format that has penetrated the market. "But Blue-Ray is backwards compatible!" Who gives a shit? Why would I buy a player that's four times as expensive as some cheap-o DVD player that will play all the movies I already have? "But it's resolution is 32849243x102398293! That's a whole LOT of pixels!" Man, I have a 51" TV, and I'm perfectly happy with DVD quality. Do I really need to see Cameron Diaz's individual facial pores? Hell no.

Saying a console is going to triumph (at least partially) due to the drive inside it is flawed logic at best. Games and apps make a console--nothing more.

Do you still watch the newest movies in the VHS format? No? Thought so.

It took around 8 years to finally declare VHS as the winner in the war vs the Betamax format, it's gonna take several years before either Blue-Ray or HD-DVD wins.

But one of them are gonna be the new format, saying that you're happy with the DVD quality and that you won't buy anything new is ignorant. People had gigant libaries of VHS movies, and when DVD came, it changed over.

It isn't hard for the companies to change format, they only need to lower the DVD sale, and sell more of the new format. It's all about the money, who cares what a little consumer thinks?

No it's not, seeing as how HD-DVD or Blue-Ray haven't become mainstream yet. He was saying as long as DVD is the mainstream home format of media (aka current movies are coming out on it, DVD players are cheap and it's the generally accepted format), that he's not going to waste extra money on a Blue-Ray player.

DVD's hold enough space for most movies and their extras, ontop of which most extras are just random add ons that they can cram into the DVD. When most talk about the extra space provided by Blue-Ray/HD-DVD being practical and useful, it's usually in the realm of PC/ Videogame consoles, not the movie business. If one of the two new formats does somehow take over DVD (don't be too sure, VHS-->DVD is quite different in terms of benefits from DVD-HD-DVD) , then Conc might think about buying a new player and so on. It's just common sense for alot of people with budgets to not buy into the latest fad just because it's new.

Exactly, and what I got from Conc's post is that deciding whether or not a console is going to take the top spot in console gaming because of a new disc format is a shoddy belief at best. Even using it as a point in supporting said console isn't the wisest of choices, seeing as how consoles usually don't last more than 4-5 years and like you said, it will take several years before Blue-Ray will completely take over DVDs, if it manages to come out ontop of HD-DVD.
