I don't completely agree that ALL homosexuals choose their sexuality. My fiance attended an all-women's college, Randolph Macon's Woman College. There are many girls there that are less attractive to guys, but still have the same sexual urges. So they adopt homosexual tendencies for their gratification. In fact, many of those 4-year lesbians after college start dating men, some get married and have children with men and live happily. My fiance has never participated or even wanted to, mind you.
Now I do believe that many people are also born into homosexuality or their surroundings and upbringing encourage it to the extent that the question of nature or nurture is blurred. How does one account for God creating someone that has a sinful tendency from birth? Well, there's nothing really clear in the scriptures, there's only this, or my opinion (and that of a few others). The devil, Satan, or Lucifer does roam the earth today tempting people, he has that power. He forces no one to do anything, only that which they themselves permit. We are all tempted to steal, to lie, to be dishonest. Some are tempted to commit adultery, and some even to murder. These are all characteristics of humans as a result of the fall of Adam and Eve, our first parents. Now I'm not saying that infants are born with sin, they're born clean, for how can an infant sin? What I'm saying is that the devil exploits what he can in the human consciousness for his benefit. He tries to get people to do everything that God doesn't want him to do. Those people that are more easily tempted to commit acts of homosexuality often give in.
There are christian people who feel homosexual urges, but they shun them. They focus on living a life without that attraction and actually try to change as one has said. But for some it fails. It's just too strong, and many of those, whom I feel are very noble and very strong, live a life with no partner. Because they respect the commandments of God.
That's a solution, a life of celibacy. I am too naive to really understand what that could be like. I feel that for those people it is extremely difficult, but their blessings will be immense.
"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal." Matthew 6:19,20
