people aren't half as rational as you think they are.
not everyone is born the same, not everyone has grown up the same, thus not everyone CAN think the same and so they will make different "decisions" in life than you will. decisions are never freely; there is no real 'free will of choice' everyone grows up with a certain view of the world and it's very difficult to individually think outside of your worldview, the only way is usually to be influenced by someone with different thoughts because he grew up in different social environment; however usually people who think differently will be very resistant to learn from each other; not many people are open-minded because they believe strongly in their views.
anyway yes i believe people can be born pedophiles. since most pedophiles have grown up learning having sex with children is not only frowned upon by the society they live in, it's even made illegal, they will be resistant to become an active pedophile. homosexuality however is in some western countries still frowned upon by a part of society but it's just as legal as heterosexuality, so a lot of people who are born homosexual at some point in their life choose to be actively homosexual aswell..

genetics has been proven to play a part, how big that part is well thats not fully understood yet. the fact that they play a part can be a good thing i.e blameworthiness in religion, (why hate something your god created) and bad things (chances of eugenics programmes).

I personally don't think (chronic) pedophiles choose to be pedophiles. However, just because it's not their choice, that doesn't mean that we should let them walk the streets and ruin the lives of children. Homosexuals, on the other hand, don't really bother anybody. It's apples and oranges.

Yeah, and being attracted to little kids isn't a choice either. Are you trying to say people CHOOSE to do that? Why would you choose to be attracted to little kids, it's pretty inconvenient. You are backpedaling because you made a weak attempt to associate being gay with being a pedophile.
