I've come to the conclusion, after many years, that you and I are just diametrically opposed. I, for instance, like good things.

-Adventure Construction Set (awesome old school EA RPG creator game)
      -Rampage
      -Syndicate
      -Lode Runner
-Decathalon (based on 1980 olympics with Bruce Jenner)
      -Digdug
      -Links
      -Dune 2
      - Sun Tzu's Ancient Art of War
Hells yes on all of those. I remember playing Decathlon on my family's first IBM PC. Nothing compares to the tactile feedback of slamming your index fingers on two keys to run (Wasn't it like A and S or Z and X? Whatever the keys were, it was on the old LOUD-click IBM keyboards.), then timing that f'ing javelin throw.

And surprisingly enough, after my last post, I was talking with a guy out at work, and he had never heard of Lode Runner (it actually came up in conversation--I called MS Publisher the "Print Shop of MS Office". If you get the reference, you're an old bastard too).

I agree with Fluffz that LHX Attack Chopper was a hell of a game, as well.

thats the same i was wondering about. tons of hidden humor in those games. especially space quest.

At junior school, we went on camp. And one night we did a trivia with the group, and we came to the last question. Surprisingly, I had all the other questions correct. The last question was "What is Sierra". The natural answer was "a type of car of the brand Ford" (in europe).

However, I filled out "a game maker company. example: KQ, PQ or SQ". This was my bonus answer, noone else would have this answer! This would be the cherry on the icecake! For the first time in my life i coulda had a 100% score!

What happend? The teacher never heard of it and didn't believe me. The red pencil went thrue my last answer. It's still a trauma, because i was fucking right.

HAhahah yes, it was 1212121 and ][][][][ I believe. Man that was some hard running. I never quite figured out the javelin throw until years later, and then suddenly one day it just clicked. That was a good day. Of course I had an excuse, I was only 5 when I first played the game.

AHH that was the name of it... I kept thinking Commanche but I know that was much newer. There was nothing like blowing up endless T-72s with my LHX, that was pure bliss.

Not sure why you put in the 'wars' part in your quote of me when I didn't even put it there. Syndicate Wars was the 2nd game in the series... I'm talking about the original Syndicate!

                  Some arcade favorites:
                  Ninja Spirit
                  R-Type
                  Shinobi
                  After Burner 2
                  Super Punch-out
                  Final Fight
                  Street Fighter 2

Lately I've been playing After Burner on emulators with a flightstick. There's a version of that game on practically every platform, but it's not the same without a flightstick.

                      1977 - Pong

1978 - StarTek (terminal/mainframe text game, answer questions for points), if you succeeded with the mission, it would print out (ascii art) the Enterprise on tractor feed paper. Networked game, too cool.
