as i said, this newer generation sucks. it's not just that they're new and i'm out of touch with them (which is of course true also), they are really fucking stupid by and large. i was in that position once. i didn't act like that. the guys who came up around me, none of us acted like that. the zone was just plain better 2+ years ago, and it was because of the people.

that's why i don't know how to fix it. the guys i like are gone, replaced by guys i really don't like.

Just be quiet, if the zone sucks so bad you should just stop playing, give the new players a chance, the ones that talk in pub are usually the jackasses, a lot of them are really nice.

If you're still playing subspace regularly (3+ hours a week or so I guess) after 3 years of playing (which seems to be about the avg of people who are complaining in this thread), then I have no sympathy for your disenchantment with the game. There are so much better things for you to be putting effort in to than resurrecting some imagined idealistic video game environment. Like Nockm said, to have expectations for a video game is setting yourself up for failure. If you're having fun, play. If you're not having fun, esc q. If you really want to force the game to be fun, then you're basically saying you have no alternative ways to have fun. That in itself is a travesty.

I'm not going to call people who are complaining nerds or question their methods of entertainment. All I want to point out is that if you're unhappy with the game, then perhaps you should take a look at what made you like it in the first place. Was it the fast paced action? There are plenty of games that offer this. Was it the social interaction? There are plenty of games that offer this too. And hey, you might even want to try this out with -real people-.

Just my opinion though.

Just a few minutes ago, I was sharking as usual, and I had my mines all laid out like I like them, and defence was solid and everything. Another shark comes in and starts mining a straight line along one wall of the flag tunnel, with all four mines. He starts telling me, no SHOUTING because he was using all caps, to change ships because his plan was better. I asked him what it was and he planned to let ships come into the tunnel so he could rep them into his mines. I told him it was flawed because 1 rep will ruin his plan, but he persisted (still in caps). Meanwhile, I still played as usual and the other team was still stymied. After a few minutes of his badgering, I said "fine" and changed ships. We lost the flag 10 seconds later.

You want some advice Jason? Retire. If the game isn't fun for you anymore, it's not going to magically become fun by ranting about it on the forums. I'm not trying to be an asshole here, but it's true. There are plenty of great new attitudes and personalities in this game. The problem is they constantly get stomped down by people holding on to the past.

There won't be another Annux. Stop looking for him. Back when you played, alot less people were around. So it was much easier for a big-mouthed funny guy to get his time in the spotlight. Nowadays you've got so many immature little fucks, and arrogant vets, that it's almost impossible to get noticed.

The game won't change, the people won't come back. Go with them, or put up with what you guys made. All these newer players look up to someone, they learnt most of what they're doing from the very people who are complaining about it now. Sad but true.
