And to Flared, I don't think those arena's will get spammed out to newbs. Mythrandir used to be a big secret aswell. It was for the leets only, and those were real base games. You tried sooooooo hard if you ever got picked after being in spec for 3 weeks.

Back then it was ok and encouraged to pick only the best people in the arena, not like in ?go base where political correctness forces the captains to pick a few newbs to ruin the game.

Hah yeah that wouldn't work, but I freakin love it. Put those settings in a subarena, max 8 per freq.

A nice touch imo would be:
Put in a bot that makes sure each freq contains players of 1 squad only. That would be sweet. This way, it WOULD make basing better, because surely your teammates would be your squaddies, and your squaddies are going to play the 'correct' way as defined by yourself :wub:

Oh yeah, the only real incentive for players to play this subarena is squad pride. i.e. hopefully some young eager squad would want to dominate it, then some other egotistic squad would want to put them in their place and join in, etc etc.

Well if you'd put it like that it should have a lower players/freq limit then. :x
And a shark limit of 1 or 2 also. People won't come unless it's event hosted tho.

The sharking thing has evolved, but you still can have some awesome fun. Nowadays shark is bascially all about making risks. Thats the fun part about it. You have to know your opponent sharks and your partner. I dont know how you can say sharkings boring. I am having quite a blast and the only reason I still play shark is because of all the fun. I mean as stab says the perfect partner does make some nice carnage. Stab and jr work very well together and if you can read each other you can make some amazing plays that know one notices except you two. I personally love Middle fights because Ive learned how to actually be effective more then just a defenseless ship as it usually looks. I dont know how you can say shark nowadays is boring with the cram. I guess I am getting too old for this game and find somethings quite amusing that others dont.

5 spiders vs 5 spiders is definately not the fun game ALL THE TIME... i'm not saying limit spiders in TWL, but in ?go base i think there should be a limit of 3 to make more fun and more change and change the FR entrance already.

I've enjoyed it from the beginning, and still do. Lining was (still is when people decide to do it) fun, cram is fun, if there has been a difference in fun for me, it's been so small that I haven't noticed it. Everything has evolved now, people pick up on more and more predictable things.

If I may speak for us sharks, and I hope they don't mind me doing so; I do think that people feel as if we play a much more mechanical game. You're right, defending a cram the whole game is by no means exciting or even much of a challenge for us (though if it means winning a league game, I don't think I'd mind), and I for one try my best to push whatever team I am DOWN... pushing back into mid (which is a much more fun battle), but it doesn't make our job any more mechanical. Just because sharks have picked up on somethings every so often (since basing has began) that it becomes natural, doesn't make our job any more mechanical, it means that we can now focus on OTHER things, things that are even more exciting for us shark nerds. It also means that we can play around with these things that come so natural to us.

but when sharks fuck up it's so noticeable, but if a spid screws up no ones goes OMG REP or OMG SHOOT or shit like that.

Sharks used to get MVP and that's why it was fun to shark. It's fun to shark in twbd or lb because your team appreciates your ability. In go base where it's harder to shark with a non familiar shark partner (usually) it's thankless work and it's mroe frustrating than anything because of the balme and pressure people put on you.

it's newbies that think they are the shit. They need to learn their place and not think they know everything. That's what drives me insane.

I say we get the really good captains and just start showing the new comers in ?Go Base the real way to play, keep it at that for about a week and it should spark up the interest. They would want to become like the really good people and want to have lots of fun, instead of doing the same old shit over and over again.
