it's newbies that think they are the shit. They need to learn their place and not think they know everything. That's what drives me insane.
Not every newbie believes they are "the shit" and I could probably make a good gamble that at least a few of the people on this forum when they were new thought they were "the shit" too. Their place is to have fun, sometimes that makes it unfun for other people, that's when you show them by example rather than force that what they are doing is wrong or they are going about it the wrong way. Just sitting their and going "you guys are newbies, you suck, gtfo" isn't going to teach them anything and is just going to make them resent you and everything you think is right about the game, is wrong.
"There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?" .Halo.
Y'know... if you were any stupider, I swear death by laughter would be a real medical occurance.
I say we get the really good captains and just start showing the new comers in ?Go Base the real way to play, keep it at that for about a week and it should spark up the interest. They would want to become like the really good people and want to have lots of fun, instead of doing the same old shit over and over again.
Why just a week? Nowadays if I start the bot I don't set any random person that asks as a cap. I ask for a good captain to volunteer, and most of the time, someone decent will speak up that didn't before. Makes for some decent games most of the time.
-spiders: Most of them are now too concentrated on the sitting and shooting that they don't see the big picture and fail to do the needed sacrifice at the correct time.
How many of you would even bother trying in a 3vs8?
Exactly what I've been seeing for a while now, whether in pure pub (of course only talking about the players who know how to base) or in ?go base. The reason is b/c instead of putting emphasis on what the spider does in the long run for the team people are putting emphasis on a spider's record (ratio) instead. Thank god somone said this.
(ZaBuZa)>sigh.. i been playing this game since i was 8... i am more mature then ull ever be...
Nobody would be able to cram! The javelins will go all out on the extra space they have. 2896729752fers.
thats the point, not the same old shit. have to learn a new way of playing. dude don't diss it till u tryed it

12. You didn't notice there are only 10 facts
I want more squads to see how basing is meant to be done. Perhaps we can highlight one or two TWLB "matches of the week" that any aspiring basers should watch and try to pick up tips and tricks. Maybe put a thread up in TWL forum, a note on TW.org or hell, even put it on the welcome message for public arenas and ?go base.
How cool would that be?

1:fermata> why dont you get money fuck bitches instead
One thing I don't think anyone has considered, probably because they will just say "that's what pub is for", but there's no real training area... no tutorial no anything for this game. It's like that for a lot of online games unless you pay for them month to month... maybe a training arena should be made? But then probably so many people would be like "fuck you I don't need to be trained in shit"...

I think ppl just need to realize how TW basing is structured.
To be frank ... it's straightforward. It's a fairly small map (compared to WZ). We have 1 flag (compared to DSB ). It's stationary (compared to EG). We have 1 entrance (compared to every basing/flag zone/league). There are only 8 players per team (comparable to others). We have limitations on ship types (I don't think other zones have this rule). Limitations on shipchanges.
Compared to other flag based zones/leagues, TW basing is just not very flexible or open to new ideas. If you're gonna just tweak the ship settings or the basing map, it's not gonna get to crux of the issue which is the ENTIRE STRUCTURE of basing. It needs to be more open-ended and flexible to allow more variety of strategies to develop and gain more interest.
There are basically 3 areas that you could change:
1) map
2) ship settings
3) gameplay rules
I would think ship settings would be a last resort to change ... albeit changing the non-basing ships (lanc, lev, weasel).
Props to previous Ops btw ... tough to deal with complaining but also be able to balance the needs of the public and needs of the league players.
Basing died when #Mythradir came.
Then it's grave was mutilated with these time race, ear warp, constant bullet damage, wb recharge having lanc, shit changes.
Private basing wont help anything, it's a waste of time. It just causes elitism in the ranks of basers and people who think they have a right to be there more than anyone else does. Comments like "who the fuck told him the arena" are going to be common statements made.
Good points there. That's exactly why I don't like basing in TW. Some really radical changes would be needed. Perhaps you could try to implement CTF in TW as well. The basic ship settings won't work with it though. But as long as the basing remains how it's now, I won't be around.
Looked nice until I took a look at the 7-tiles wide/4 tiles high entrance.
With a map like that one could just put a flag in an empty map with no base and let people fight over it.

5: RoboHelp> Are you nuts? You can't ban a staff member!
5: Da1andonly> =((
5: Epinephrine> !ban da1andonly
5: RoboHelp> Staffer "da1andonly" has been banned for abuse.
5: Epinephrine> oh shit
I think if you wanna take a look at a map change perspective ... you're going to have to either have:
1. 1 FR entrance - but somehow make it less static ... perhaps elongate it vertically so it's more like a gauntlet type of thing?
2. More than 1 FR entrance - But then it looks like you'd have to make the entrances as far away from each other as possible (on roof?)
Even so, I think that basing in general would be improved upon if the intial access to base (very outer FIRST entrance into the whole base) is changed so there are at least multiple INITIAL entrance points. That sort of changes things so that it's more of a 360 degree game instead of favoring the up and down type of movement that I think does not develop skills and restricts creativity.
