?go basing was the solution for newbs wanting to pub - it didn't work. If you think #mythrandir is the solution, mention it to him and staff. Opening up the idea to the public without first looking at the consequences is ignorant.

I'm sure you all have friends in staff... you can get some priv base going on your own. You don't even have to move #mythrandir into public. You could call it ?go mayoisahomo for all I care as long as it would happen. I'd just like to see the kind of games played in #mythrandir be available to the entire TW population.

I Think using Matchbot in a special arena called (for example) 8vs8 is definately a good idea. Not advert for #myth, but make a special public arena for it and play it in there. It is worth giving a shot.

Posting #myth makes no sense. If you want it open for all kind of people you should go in pub and see who would want to play basing. You could invite those people you know who wouldn't start to riot inside this arena. It is not elite basing it is quality basing, people can't expect to come in and be picked the day after. If you want to blend basers with.. something else ... I don't know with what because I think all serious basers find out about #myth on the moment it suites them. So I don't think it is up to you to post a private arena, better you talk about how those people should spend more time in publics to show what basing is like, though I don't think a couple of 'vets' owning flagroom for a an hour or so makes rookies going to like basing more.
That people don't play in pub but in a private arena says something about the publics, for some reason it is not tempting enough for (good) basers.
Why would I rather go #myth? Because basing almost never gets hosted and when it does there is an unlimited amount of javelins.
In publics I don't like to base just because of levis and the fact that half your team excists of spawners and sharks that use mines for their own purposes.

mayo while thats admirable i really doubt most of the tw population would be able, let alone take advantage of the kind of basing that goes on in private. most people who enjoy basing and are good at it know about it. its also only 8vs8, a large # of people who might go might not get to play. unknown people who go, rarely get picked anyway. and we all know the quality of the game degrades if theres too many new people or a new person capping.
that said i agree for the most part.

I do think that making a automated basing arena such as ?go #mythrandir public is a good idea.
But how should Matchbot function, just like the bot in #myth? And how can we be sure that the arena doesn't die off like it happened to ?go base?
