Pub Map!

Too many people cram into the FR on the new pub map and you know what usually happens?

A jav uses his rocket, actually, about 4 Javs rocket and just shoot bombs randomly.

Not even any competition, plus you need to limit the jav numbers to a smaller number so there isn't all that bs.

It's annoying as hell.

And a new (or.. the old) map would help prevent this... how?

I think there should be a third option for "I like the idea of a new pub map, but this one isn't perfect". In the meantime, I'm supporting the concept of change by voting for the new map :turned:

Put in a poll on a bot in the pubs every 2 hours or so and record the results and average it out. And count it as like 50 votes on poll.

That seems to be a good addition to the poll since the public players, most of them, will not go to the forums. If they do go to the forums, they won't register. If they don't register, they can't vote. End of story.

Anyways... I think the poll needs a third option to do more than just one new pub map just to see completly what the TW community rly wants.

I suggested that to PL when making the poll. I think most will like the new map because of the tileset, lower base setup and other things but there are many aspects of it that are not very popular. The dual entrances for example I don't see adding much to the game play. I would suggest giving some written feed back along with a vote.

I think the new pub map should have wormholes everywhere. And it should be pink.

Also, I think there should be fireworks graphics like on New Years, except ALWAYS. Also, there should be AT LEAST 20 flags in two or more flagrooms. Also, the entire spawn zone should be a safe zone to avoid spawnkilling. Also, don't forget it should be pink.

I think you had a GREAT idea Left_Eye for a ?purepub (old base map) and the pub areas for the new

this is a good step forward, but don't rely too much on user feedback and take steps on your own to improve the map. If you keep changing it over and over again, I'd probably like it, but most people will start arguing over the placement of every single asteriod. A few good maps to maybe choose from, but when you introduce the feedom to choose the map, you're going to divide everyone between the choices. As much as I like democracy, one person should be responsible for situations like this where you'll never get 100% or even 50% backing for one choice.

This is a good idea. The bot poll in public part, probably with the 2 options and the third one Alinea suggested. You may weigh their votes however you wish to in comparison to the forums.

Adding on to this, if you could somehow program it so one vote per player and then that player will not be able to vote on any of the other polls, wouldn't be fair if that same player would be able to vote on every poll.

This map sucks and the whole way that it introduced was nigh on scandalous and treating pub like shit

One day I logged in and the map was some boki spin off that it looked like someone had sneezed on with loose blocks floating about and ridiculous roof shots

What I couldn’t believe is there wasn’t a green entrance message alerting me what the hell was going on … and that was the same for others logging on and just going wtf ??? is this a test map? a permanent map ??? … all of which should have been avoided by a simple entrance message explaining the intentions behind the change of map and leaving that message up for a considerable time …

Anyhow this map sucks loads … way better maps out there including the one we’ve been playing for years

For me staff are going arse about face in their attempts to save this zone and are driving players away rather than getting more … i personaly think switching the pure pub is wrong and i often see less players in the first one now and has this map brought any more players ? and if so can it keep them or is it a small influx checking out the new map ...

I’ve been playing publics for years regularly and with these changes I’ve found myself logging in and not wanting to play pub at all

Can I be the first to say that I do not play in pubs because of the maps? I mean, come on. No way you log in and play pub just because you like the map. You may decide that you don't like the map, but you'll still play pub. A map that I love is a plus, but by no means is it the only reason I'll play an arena.

The settings, constant influx of people, people playing that I know, and then the map are the reasons, in that order, I'd play an arena. You wouldn't play a map that you loved if no one was ever there or the settings sucked. You could always find something else to do in TW too. I'm sure people would be happy to have more #'s in non-pub arenas as well.
