Well Milosh, wins could be added as some addition to it...but I think it should be secondary nonetheless to ratio. I think most commited elim players will agree with that.

Also, read this http://forums.trenchwars.org/showthread.php?t=35072 and see if there's feasibility of integrating this into the statistics on TWD

You're right, Sirius. I did hint at that, although, I didn't necessarily mean to. I do disagree with you on the point that things should remain as they have always been if a formula that better evaluates a player's skill is available. I believe many factors should go into play and not just kill ratio, and I plan to reveal my idea for that goal when I have the time to do so.

I can definitely add in the spawn prevention, MetalKid; however, I do want to eliminate the idea that any functionality a bot has can simply be "copied over" to another. A good deal of work generally goes into converting code this way, but in this particular instance I can add that feature in with relative ease.

I would think ratio, winning a game, average rating of opponents killed, and number of kills per game should affect the ultimate rating. Obviously in elim, ratio is the most important weight. However, winning games also need to be weighted more than they are now because speccing for rec should be (and is) frowned upon. I would say the number of kills per game should be considered just because some people will try to hide, and that would balance it out.

On another note, would it be possible to eliminate spawn kills of just 1 second (just get rid of the damn bullet spawn issue). We already have that code for the tourny bots, so can't you just copy it over?

You just said it yourself 'it will be altered to affect ratios but will MAINLY be based on winning elims'....hence the majority will be affected by whether you win or not? And that would be completely different from the ranking formula we've had up till now.

When did I say that? I haven't yet revealed the formula I'm proposing, so you can't possibly claim to know how much ratio will effect the outcome. As I've stated already, I'm very busy as of late, so please abound in patience.

Will race to <#> kills still be an option for game type?

If I understand it correctly that this new elim will also be facilitating casual javs play, I strongly suggest you remove every single bot from ?go javs. Shit killed base-elim with the streaks and barwarp and other non-sense.

yea, dont mess with the ranking, if its not broke dont fix it..oh wait the bot is broke.. so u fixed it AND change rating system? for what? it was fine before we just needed a new bot, not changes, but the 2 arenas in 1 is nice

Yeah but Milosh, you are drastically changing how it works by making it win-based with some ratio stuff on the SIDE...it would be best to just leave the current ranking ratio style the way it has always been..just make it take away points if you spec without going out.

Should offer awards or extra points for winning an elim alongside the current rating system. Keep it the same and just add the Win_Game award that should be announced before each game, like ?go tourny, and should reflect towards the number of players who are actually playing.

Get 20-10, and you come out with a 2:1 ratio that gives you, say, 2000 rating (IT'S AN EXAMPLE, I cannot stress that enough.). Get 20-9, and you come out with better than a 2:1 ratio and winning the game should give you something like 2200 rating. Speccing early (or not finishing the match) with the same rec should show something like 1800 rating.

Also, number of people playing a match should also be considered in rating system. I can get on late at night when there isn't many people playing. I can play an elim game 1vs1 against some newb and get 10-0 and get the same rating for that easy match compared to an arena full of players and getting the same rec.

And it would be very nice to have team elims, as well. Would have to add an additional poll for how many players per team or you can just do 2s like tourny. If too complicated, elim's fine without it.

I have a feeling that most ?go javs players don't understand or even know about the pending changes.

Because every time I saw belimbeta up it was empty, and go javs still had people. This forum makes it pretty clear people dont like change..

Why do you ask? Is there something ?go javs has that the new arena won't?

So when this goes official, is there going be anything to stop people from just going to ?go javs still?
