So, those players who love thier ?go javs rec would probably continue to play ?go javs or, if baseelim took off and ?go javs died, abandon it altogether.
I think this comment may freak some people out. For everyone's information, I will be transferring all scores from ?go javs to whatever arena(probably baseelim) we choose to use. You will not have to start over.

Oh, and wasn't javelim to be the future of baseelim? I know it's not working now but are we planning on completely trashing it or restricting it to a weekend event?
When I said ?go warbirds I was merely speaking of a concept(casual play for warbirds). I have no intention of transferring the actual map over. As for javelim, it requires a large population and is best used as a weekend event in my opinion.

Hm, yes... I was thinking the same.

I don't see a problem with automatically setting people to !play as they enter. If they just want to play casually they can always do !play again.

As to Hercs post: I totally agree with you that 5 years back elim was all about being able to play both ships, but times have changed.

I don't think changing the maps is really intended to bring new players in, and I don't think it will, so that's a moot point. But I DO think that a shitty setup for elim could potentially deter players and decrease the population, so I think the real issue at hand is what will bring baseelim back to life and thus bring players back to baseelim. While this thread is discussing both elims, I think we can all agree it's more directed towards baseelim than it's counterpart.

Milosh, I understand your logic that players who are playing for rec want everyone to see their rec. However, I would contend that people who really care about their rec in ?go javs wouldn't bother trying to get a few thousand kills on another map (for those who don't know, hours [if not days] of work.) So, those players who love thier ?go javs rec would probably continue to play ?go javs or, if baseelim took off and ?go javs died, abandon it altogether.

I've explained my reasoning behind the need for a scorereset each game and I think you've offered a good solution, however, as a person who gets typekilled a lot, I don't think this is the most viable solution and would require a lot of extra hand work for something that should just be visable.

I would suggest the converse of your idea, which I did previously, and take it a step further. Let the bot track total records and post the overall jav record leaderboard on tw.org monthly. Allow players to do something similar to !rank <player name>, such as !rec <playername>. And, if this still isn't enough in your opinion, you could even incorporate a small lvz file where players could pm the bot with, I don't know, !overallrecs and the bot would *objon a scoreboard for them listing the records of say the top 20 players in the arena at the time. (By no means am I saying this would be a necessity, simply a suggestion if you think overall records need more of a spotlight.)

This way, players would be rewarded for having the best overall records, by having thier names on tw.org, but I can still press F2 a bunch of times to check how many deaths people have.

As a sidenote: I'm really fucking hungover at work and am reading forums so I don't have to actually do anything, so if my grammar is bad: suck it.

I could probably figure out more by the end of the day.. right now I just disagree... but then again if you think its for the best then go ahead, i just want rankings page to be finished with a little more statistics than w/l k/d (add stuff like avg kills per game etc)
I share his opining, why do we need to "fix" elim? it isn't broke or dead.
a warpbar in belim? u brads are spoiled and lazy

    Hercules
Hercules, you are absolutely correct when you say that people tend to goto higher player number arenas.

What you completely fail to understand is, this will NOT help bring more, NEW, outside players into the game.

Transferring population from 1 zone to another, or 1 arena to another, DOESN'T increase population, it keeps it the same. What the hell is the point of that?

We want MORE people all together playing this game, not just a zone IN it.

Another thing to note is, (it's been repeated SEVERAL times now), is baseelim was supposed to survive with javs, then it would have.

No need to poison the ?go elim warbird arena.

Btw Milosh, great ideas man. Hopefully you'll actually be able to implement them.

How about making a box/area like a hotspot in the casual play spawn that will automatically enlist you for the competitive elim round? You only have to press insert and fly into it (being it a safe area ofcourse) to play with the competitive elim, after getting a PM from the bot that the new round is about to start.

This may be funny in the beginning but would become irritating very quickly. Furthermore it will give a bad impression to newbies. I don't think this is such a good idea.

If elim has a casual play area and a competitive play area, won't this be the ideal place for a 'hangout' area?

Overall, this project gets my stamp of approval

    I like this.

I RARELY Take time off from hosting, but I do like spending offtime in elim.

Now, the one tangent I am interested to see, is the social aspect of it. Elim has traditionally been a place to 'hangout'. Especially since belim died. What will the outcome of this idea be? (I realize we can't really answer till its put into effect.)

This is the logic that most new players dont see (maybe because their brain is not fully functional yet, i dont know.)

However. As TW population increases, as it did and was about 6-8 years ago when the elim was split into two, then you can diversify and seperate elims. It was really good idea back in the day, the population boost of over 500 every day was simply marvelous.

Now, lets get to reality of the zones current state: We are hitting little over 400 every day, if that. With a population decrease, you would want to combine arenas. Now that logic you say? Now here is where the fun begins, the players abilities to two ship back then is something we seriously lack today. The ranks in the top 20 back then were players who could do both ships very very well. Myself and many others would spend hours trying to rank into the top 10 only failing to players like sika banzi utopia blood jack, and the siege / elusive recruits. So bring ranking back would be a huge plus with an anti feeding system (That would need bot coding work though).

I proposed this in a different thread, but why wouldn't it be able to just combine the arenas and rotate the eliminations, having it switch wb jav wb jav or something.. Or even split one arena into 2. I dont know..

Dont get me wrong, I like your idea.. I just dont see it being effective with the current population.

    Thats my two cents..Thanks

    Hercules

I do love the idea as well, but herc makes good points here. What i was thinking was, why not merge the javs/baseelim, and leave reg elim alone? javs have always been the least popular of the two right?

    We want RANKING !!!

that alone will bring more players.

Maybe addons for future. I'd rather see this done before any of this was considered.

    1. !vote who's gonna win , if guessed right announce at end of game who.
more of a fun thing for people in spec. i guess. Or some kinda betting.

    2. End of match info. Winner K:L , Juggernaut - most Kills , ON FIRE - most improved by rank. Slacker - most declined in rank. Weakest link - first player out. etc , etc.

    3. Bot cracks jokes, at people dieing. RoboEt> So where did you learn to fly? Flight simulator 1

    4. i could probably keep going but ill stop there.

Sounds nice (at least on paper).... tho I don't want a bot PMing me when I have a streak, nor when someone else I am playing does.

    I like this idea mostly..

Please dont put any warp bar in baseelim unless you do change the map, which I hope you wont do either. The old map is great.

Also please add voting on shrap, baseelim2 showed that most people voted for shrap to be on, or that the people who dont like consistant shrap(stupid people) dont know how to vote.
