SubSpace was suppose to die in 98
SubSpace was suppose to die in early '00
Continuum was suppose to die in 03, 04, 05, no wait 06? Gotta be 07
Continuum was suppose to be dead in 08
Its 2009 and we're still here. This game has outlived every expectation, and I think "Cult of the Final Call" has dissolved by now from getting tired of waiting, lol.

Soilderz you're pretty dumb.
Good luck to Rapidshare trying to make the next Cosmic Rift, I'll enjoy watching them fail.

The troubling thing about this whole RapidShare thing is that they're very vague with their intentions. They say they want the game to remain free, but that sounds like BS to me. What the hell is the point in taking over an online game, spending tons of money on legal fees, server costs and development costs, and then not trying to make money from it? How much do you want to bet they'd end up requiring a paid RapidShare account to play the game? Subspace failed as a commercial game 10 years ago, and what would be the difference now?
Also, I'm willing to bet that if they somehow DID get legal ownership of Subspace, they're probably attempt to shutdown SSC/Continuum as we know it. Everything would probably have to run from their servers.
I got to watch Infantry/Cosmic Rift be ruined by Sony after they took the games over from Harmless and started charging a monthly fee and incorporated it into the annoying Station system. The games were pretty much ruined, populations dropped, and it was just a disaster. If this Continuum/RapidShare thing actually went through, it would probably be the end of the game.
Anyway, this is probably all completely moot as I doubt they'll ever get a response from PriitK anyway.

I know everyone is thinking it so I'll just say it....
Priit is a fucking machine! I'm gonna show my grandkids a screenshot of me playing with Priit. "Look at this George, grandpa is playing games online with a billionaire, isn't that something". After that I'll go collect my social welfare.

I don't even understand why some people say they don't like this idea/deal. What do we have to lose? This game is dying and we all know it, It will be dead in a year if nothing is done so any kind of action I think is positive.
But as many has said, if it will be pay to play I won't pay to play it.

This is indeed very interesting.. I really dont know what to say.
Just to leave some comment here after I read this thread:
- I would like to see playerbase grow +
- This seems like a miracle to Subspace, however is it really true? +
- As some stated in this thread, The emails look kinda "unprofessional" to me -
- I highly doubt they will keep this free after all -
As said, no one of us normal players have anything "say" here, But IMHO I look forward to see this happening. :turned:

remembering my pass to this place was a bitch.. especially only having 5 tries.
Anyways... 1st off, thanks to Doc Flabby for splitting discussion on this.
2nd... I do not in anyway affiliate with the council. There are members there who'd rather turn everything into a big political battle rather than get things done. Not all, but many. That is why a small group of us function along side of it, and we're the ones who decided to e-mail them and what to ask of them. Before the e-mail was even sent though, it was already decided what their reply would most likely be depending on which stance we felt they'd take. Sadly, the stance they took was the one we had not hoped for. Though, this is only 1 set of e-mails, and MTN, Ghost Ship, and myself have yet to sit down and discuss what to reply back with yet.
3rd... Its legit... I deleted a lot of his contact stuff outta there, (IE: telephone, fax, etc.) and the fact the e-mail I sent it to was a rapidshare.com e-mail, and the guy is the ceo, and his staff has been in YOUR zone talking to some of YOUR staff. So all in all, we took this as being pretty legit. I spent 3hrs researching the guy before even beginning to type the e-mail.
4th... BDE owns SubSpace. Continuum is a clone of such game using SubSpace graphics. Though, as the original license from subspace said, we could use and modify such graphics as we wished as long as no profit was made. So as long as we don't do that, really BDE can't touch us, even if they wanted to.
5th... Continuum source will NEVER be sold or released. Sadly to them, we couldn't do more than just hand over what we have and our zones. Not happening anyways, but eh. Skype and KaZaA are funnily enough, BASED a lot on our lovely game. Amongst the protocol, packing priit uses, etc. He releases continuum source, we got all of that. Continuum is as much important to him as his billion dollar baby.
6th... Continuum .39 was finished, yes FINISHED, for 2yrs before Priit finally sent ghost the beta for me to distribute and do player testing on. Then after we found some issues with subgame not recognizing differences between different .39 versions, we asked him to change it to .40. So hence, Continuum .40. But amongst that point, Priit no longer takes time for this game like he use to, beyond activating some stuff on the biller he coded in ages ago. So really, I doubt he has paid much if any attention to these guys.
And the list continues... but I'll stop there for now. Many of you messaged me asking about this, and I hope this answers some of your questions.

Like people said on SSForums the company which owns the license to Subspace (Activision Blizzard) has no interests in selling it to anyone. Anyone who tries to make a pay2play zone with Continuum will probably either face legal action by Priitk or just told to fuck off. Priitk can hand over the development and pseudo-control of Subspace/Continuum to Rapidshare but they themselves can't use it for for-profit means without owning the license.
Like DA said, not gonna happen.
I would like it if this game remains in part own and operated by the community because unless all the legal issues can be resolved, to support a population of a single zone like TW would require a large group of people and a profitable business model which risks tanking the entire game completely. That or they ignore the issue of zones and take over control of the Biller and run things status-quo, accepting player owned/operated zones to the Biller. TW would be shutdown and the settings would most likely not be used (being the property of Priitk), IF in the unlikely event this does happen so anyone who wants to rant about Staffers not liking the idea... keep that in mind.Last edited by Kolar; 05-01-2009, 11:01 PM.

They are going to end up creating their own client of subspace anyway.Originally posted by Dameon Angell View PostI'm not surprised on how stupid everyone is to ignore me and say "stop, it's not happening"
