Also think about it this way: let's say tw has 1000 regular, reocurring players. 100,000 users is 100 times this amount. Among our 1000 regulars, we have 1 t0ma. So among 100,000 users, we should have 100 t0mas. DO YOU WANT 100 T0MAs IN TW? WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE! YOU KNOW HOW MUCH AGONY I GO THROUGH DEALING WITH JUST ONE?!Originally posted by Dameon Angell View PostI'm not surprised on how stupid everyone is to ignore me and say "stop, it's not happening"

They are probably planning to charge people to host their zones. But besides that.....
I dont see the point really. They could open up their own zone now, they could develop their own bots/graphics/everything. They could advertise continuum on rapidshare, they could even host it for download. I just dont see why they need to be 'given' the game, when they could just make their own zone already.
Is it worth a try? Maybe, they might make TW more reliable than it has been lately. But then again, how do we even know they wouldnt end up making their game more ExtremeGames like? I guess I just dont see the point, they could make a more reliable TW zone clone if they wanted to right now.

I'm almost suprised at how dumb some of the responses are, this isn't the big government system coming to take over the small island off the middle of nowhere with no government system. Let me put it this way: continuum as we know it now (independent) will most likely exist whether this happens or not, the only thing that might change is whether people go over to this other version or not, but I'm certain that regardless some will stay here unless they manage to clone continuum exactly as it is and it's entirely free, the odds of that happening aren't likely. What is much more likely if this isn't a hoax, is that they make a pretty good clone of the game, and then I give it a 50/50 whether this guy ties it to his company, i.e. you need to be a rapidshare member to play the game or it's just something completely free. Either way it's a win win situation, if they actually clone the game and then they go pay to play then where do you think all of those players will go when they realize that there's a free version of what they're paying for?
The only way this actually goes bad is if Priitk sells continuum to them and shuts down the servers, then they can do as they wish and there is no more continuum as it is currently known, but in that case there was nothing you could've done anyways.

I was wondering how that idiot formed a thought and posted it legibly on the forums, it makes sense now.

Lol? Molesters?
Also, I agree, something doesnt feel right here. I think the hidden catch here, is they actually need us to follow them. By "us" I mean the community. Lets say they copy the game, put it on their website, and release it for download and/or P2P. Then what? The staff will need to create their own "batch" of zones to get started. Sure, its easy to recreate TW and EG pub/settings, but they will have no development community there for help. Its like starting from the stone age. They'll need to learn to create fire, how to use it, how to keep it from going out, inventing the wheel again, etc. Nobody really knows the in-depth problems/issues/fixes/etc except our vet-side community........................................

Think about everything they will actually have to recreate/steal from us. Bots, map making programs, billers, etc. Not only do they need to recreate/steal those, they also need to learn how to use it all. Their threat of "taking over" can be answered with a removal of everything downloadable/discussed about continuum (the technical/server help side). As far as "giving you a job" goes, I think they are trying to piss on your leg and tell you its raining. Think about it, whos going to run their new community? Who is going to mod that "100,000" player base? If you think about it, the amount of dev/staff that continuum has, (in each zone, on forums, every mod, smod, sysop, ER, ZH, devver) probably outweighs their rapidshare staff team; not to mention, we are all more experienced.
What it seems they want to do, is remake SS, make all of us follow them, and pretty much have us make everything for them while they sit there and do nothing. Pretty much, just like in the movies, where the bad guys have hundreds of scientists in the cellar, making a nuclear bomb, because the bad guy somehow convinced them it was for good. Then, after the scientists were done, they explained how they would destroy the earth, then killed off all the scientists? Yea, thats the direction this seems to be going in.
Long story short, I think -WE- are the ones who should be calling the shots here, because without us, its going to be a huge effort to start things up on their part.
My answer: Hell yes, go with it, BUT, dont let them manipulate you into doing what they want. We should make them agree to things on OUR terms. Its a 50/50 share, we should have 50% in the say of things. They bring the money, we bring the life. We want shit kept a certain way, they want their things...compromise.
If you are going to copy paste a quote from another player on SSForums, then at least give them credit, instead of taking it for yourself in writing this. I realize you are a jackass and a retard without enough intelligence to know how to cite quotes, but at the very least you could say at the bottem "written by so and so on SSForums.net"
Fucking jackass

Well, we can let them waste their time and money developing something else, can't we? Hopefully, Priitk wouldn't sell anything so even if they do make a "clone", we can just stay where we are. As their player base builds on their version, we can wait for it to be p2p. When that happens, we swoop in and say, "Here is a free version of this game already established for the past 10+ years and it will always be free!". Problem solved.

Man this is so stupid. If you had millions to put into this game we'd afford some fulltime professional coders, and a massive commercial campaign. We'd get tons of new players.
I wouldn't invest millions, I would give a few grand.
