In most states, if you are convicted of an felony, it impacts you the rest of your life. You lose rights like being able to vote, carry a gun, etc. And of course the record impacts the ability to land a job.
So your example actually supports my position that people who are banned for cheating SHOULD be held responsible.
Another point that I would like to raise in the context of your example. Not many felons would run start publishing arrogant public statements. Cape choose to start a thread and stir things up, running his mouth about cheating. Using your example, this is akin to a felon taking out a newspaper ad and shoving his crime into everyone's face.
