Who cares about the past eph, just like IRL ppl do things in there lives they shouldnt (go to jail) and when they are released they get a 2nd chance at life. In my eyes, being banned is just like jail irl, u do ur time then ur free. If we are cheating we'll be caught, staff arent idiots.

In most states, if you are convicted of an felony, it impacts you the rest of your life. You lose rights like being able to vote, carry a gun, etc. And of course the record impacts the ability to land a job.

So your example actually supports my position that people who are banned for cheating SHOULD be held responsible.
Another point that I would like to raise in the context of your example. Not many felons would run start publishing arrogant public statements. Cape choose to start a thread and stir things up, running his mouth about cheating. Using your example, this is akin to a felon taking out a newspaper ad and shoving his crime into everyone's face.

The difference is this isnt real life eph. Some things u can compare some u cant. Plus after u get caught cheating a few times (probably 2-3?) then u get netbanned for awhile.

Alot of what u said is tru, certain states u do lose those rites (depending on what crimes) and sometimes it does affect u getting a job (not always) but the fact remains we dont have those things in this game. If someone is cheating its only an amount of time till they get caught. The chances of every one of us dice players cheating is very slim. Lag is always part of the game ( u should know this by now) whether it is via the server or distance from the server, connection speed, router, either way lag is still there and for some reason ppl would much rather say they are cheating then come up w/ a logical reason for htem lagging like the server is a piece of crap.

meh, i just think that staff should take a closer look at players this season and look for cheating more. I think staffers are afraid to do something about cheats cause they dont want to offend their friends in game about it, but what really will end up happening is more people saying 'well x player ate 4 shots so why cant i?'

I'm with you on this one. I get to play a range of squads and i can tell by now which ones cheat and which don't.....For all the crap about QS i've played them and they dont cheat. They die when u hit them (if u can hit them of course before u get spawned ). Some other squads tho....

I'm less bothered by lag. Lag will make you eat the occasional shot... What i hate is when u shoot a pretty much stationary ship dead on and it eats... and it doesnt just happen once....... I guess its harder to cheat in jd without being obvious (i still rember someone saying once they got a full charge green and that why they had energy for that bomb (busted!) ) but there are some players who play there with strange lag.... Where like they moving around normally with little sign of lag but eat bullets and bombs untill u do a wall shot!

I mean personally im not to bothered about cheaters - flabby arnt going to make twl and if people have to cheat to win us it just makes me laugh. I mean cmon if u gotta cheat to beat flabby :fear:

You have made a good point about IRL vs. online life and that a big part of this current topic drives that distinction strongly.
I don't want to debate whether or not this is 'real life', but I will say that I conduct myself online the same way I behave IRL. My opinion is that everyone should. And anyone who takes the position that it is ok to be an inconsiderate asshole online (like by cheating) but that is ok because IRL they are ‘good’ people is being a royal two-faced hypercritic. But that is just my opinion and people can act anyway they want. I simply choose not to be associated with people like that.

Lag? Sure lag is a part of game and of course ‘I know this’. But lets look at the observations that people use to make the determination between lag and cheating. Lag can cause the appearance of a player jumping across the screen by a few tiles, but jumping 7-8 or more tiles and people start thinking ‘pulled the plug’. Jumping 7-8 tiles in a way that just happens to get someone into a FR? Come on, you have to agree that the majority of people are going to call that cheating. Now consider that the 7-8 tile jump occurred with a player who has either already demonstrated immoral behavior at another time, has previously admitted to cheating in these forums, or is on a squad with similar people. Water tight 100% guarantee that cheating is occurring? No. But can I think we can all agree that all these observations would lead most people to say cheating has occurred.

Why has anyone NEVER accused me of cheating in 8 years of playing. I, like everyone else, lag at times. But I have enough class and sportsmanship to choose not to play or get a sub if I lag. I certainly don’t come onto these forums and shit in people’s faces about it. I also try to distance myself from cheaters by refusing to play on the same squad with them. I also try to be responsible for my actions and treat people the way I would like to be treated. I presume that this is why I have never been accused of cheating.

So why do those people who are always battling cheater accusations want to bitch about it? They made the bed, they can lie in it. I see no valid reason to ignore the history of their behavior. A convicted thief will always be the first person to be suspected if someone thing is missing from your room.

Eph no one ever accused you bc ur generaly quiet in game. Plus like you said you will sitout if u lag. Alot of players dont do that. Alot of ppl who are laggy bring attention to themselves by acting a certain way (yes im included here) maybe thats some of the problem.

I was just using jail (irl) as an example for banning (in game) but eph went all technical and thats when it dont compare anymore.

Maybe if u a-s guys would spend as much time in game practicing as you do writing 3000 word essays on here you mite become a contender instead of a pretender.
