I think it's upsetting that people don't have faith in the longevity of TWBasing. True, there are only 8 squads suitable for a league, with 3-4 that (at the moment) have a real chance.. but wasn't this almost always the case? There were always squads (over time) like Dice, -F-, Rampage, Disoblige, Spastic, Pallies, who primarily controlled the upper levels of competition in TWL-B, and even back then there were only a max of 3-5 really active squads. The fact that 5+ BD's go on daily, between a variety of squads (Penetrate, Pandora, Sk8, Trauma, Dice; when they feel like playing, Loyalty, Sage, Freebie, Sweet) should induce hope. TWL-B may not be SO competitive this year, but don't just assume it's going to die. Perhaps this will encourage those not so interested, or not that good at basing, to improve. If XG players see Trauma do well this TWL, full squads/players will want to come to compete too, just like we would if a full squad from TW went to another zone and did well. If TW was dying, squads would migrate. This season may be the rocky rapids we need to cross to hit the waterfall, and we can either fight to try and not fall with the waterfall until we're stable enough not to fall off it, and acknowledge our loyal core to basing, or we can fall off. I don't think basing is going to die without a fight, there's still a lot of people who've stayed interested.

Updates:

- Roster size: Teams will be allowed 25 players plus an additional 5 players for every other league they qualify for.

- Resolution limit: For TWLB and TWLJ, the resolution will be raised to its current TWD limit. For TWLD it is still trying to be determined whether the increased resolution gives an inherent advantage.

- There will be no ship specific lag limits, however due to recent developments in game lag limits will be tinkered with to prevent cheating, particularly in the area of spikes.

- In regards to qualification, it will be 10 teams for LD, 8 for LJ, and 8 for LB. Currently there is not enough squads in contention to warrant a play-in tournament for the last spot in each league (perhaps LJ), however if activity grows then I will reconsider this. That means that it is standard qualification rules.

Although there are claims of "enormous advantage" and "omg end of the world", I have yet to see a clear advantage materialize statistically. I have been monitoring players in TWDT who have been using the 1900 res as well as comparing people's k/d ratio and performance in TWD pre-resolution change and post-resolution change. So far there is no discernible statistical advantage for any player who is on a squad that will likely qualify for TWL. Hence, why it is still being considered. I have LD champs and half the zone telling me its an advantage, yet no smoking gun. In fact I have more hard evidence to raise it than to keep it as is. That is where I am at on the LD resolution situation.

They are telling you this basing on their play experience which isn't going to be seen at some TWD stats. I think it's the most valuable input you can possibly get. And the main reason of an advantage is not only resistivity to strays and casual rushes, but also improved general awareness of what happens in the environment. It's always better to see things at screen then to look at laggy radar.

seems to me, most people base it on conjecture with hardly any actual experience on the matter.

Ergo: Advantage is there, but it isn't going to alter the game or suddeny make people go 20:1 every game. Its a small advantage.

I'm sorry, but you are looking at the wrong place. Neither TWDD nor TWDTD provide enough information regarding the advantage/disadvantage of smaller/bigger resolutions. Put simply, a guy can stay alive longer and be more useful for his team the longer he can stay alive. Period.

Previous TWLD winners Ease (mvp), Geisha and Burnt have all voted for the resolution cap to stay intact, as well as many other key players on other squads.

As for the res itself, I like playing with my max, I don't have to worry about suiciderushing or long-drawn radarbattles as much, the gameplay is better. My "only" issue with this is as usual: putting good players on the bench because they simply lack the resolution.

Captain of Sweet as well as having a 6:1 win/loss ration in TWDD, my good friend 'vt' stated he would be useless in TWLD because his max resolution is 1280, this is unfortunate, and I am sure many other players have the same issues.

Well I guess it's ok though, for I still have warbirds capable of pulling off at least 1600x1080 resolution, hence i am going to base my twld starters purely on that information, so i can exploit the hardware advantage successfully over the squads that are less fortunate regarding pixels times pixels parameters.
