It's already been mentioned, but I'll write it anyways:

It would be great if Distension could more or less run regularly, much like Robotboy's timed pubs do currently. A great feature of TW is the ability to jump in at any time when schedule permits (any given player's personal schedule, not the game's schedule) and just play.

If it's a pain to get into Distension (long waits, infrequent uptime), then it will appeal only to a smaller group that happens to be able to make it to games during those times.

I've tried to test out Distension a few times, over the course of several days, and each time it has been closed, with 2 to 7 players speccing only. So I just return to Robotboy's timed pub and have a blast. Might be fun to try out Distension though, if its schedule can become more flexible.

Only problem with free play in Distension [when people come in, and just jump in when they want] is that it lags the server. Thats a good idea though. Hopefully it will happen in the near future. Like once dbot is on the same server as the rest of the TW bots.

Also, at the end of every round, Most Kills usually go to a Lanc, which is why I assume this is up for debate. Nerfing the leech doesn't sound like a bad idea, but maybe do 10% instead of the proposed 5%? I don't have a lanc, and I do get a little angry about it killing me so many times, but no more angry than those quick wb's that run around the fr tanking bullets like it's their business, and super rocket javs.

You are obligated to keep the teams from being stacked you fucking moron. You have gotten just as bad as HMS. Check the scenario: teams are 18v10 and I'm on the team with 18 people. I tell people on my own team to assist because the teams are massively uneven. Direct orders from qan are to shut down the bot if the teams are this unbalanced and people won't assist. Trunks_rage immediately starts calling me an asshole and abuser and raving that I kicked him from the game or something (I did no such thing and found his actions to be hilarious).

Just because I'm an op doesn't mean I'm obligated to assist, and I'm especially not going to assist when it would leave my team with 1 terr. I am, however, obligated to do something about 18v10 teams. So, let's summarize: I am on a team with 18 players, Trunks_rage is on a team with 10, and he goes crazy because I ask people from my team to assist his team. Gee, I wonder what he would have said if I didn't ask my team to assist?

I've noticed that Trunks_rage seems to be suffering from schizophrenia, and I have donned my special space detective's hat to attempt to discover the source of this phenomenon.

When you know people are running something poorly and you can't change it, that obviously is going to piss you off.

Stabwound, does it really surprise you most people who aren't lanc, and don't think they will ever be able to unlock lanc, think it should be less powerful? That is total tyranny of the majority at its worst.

Just like Viruk said, there are times when spider is even more effective at clearing a room than the lanc. There is a long enough delay between my bullets firing to kill me, if I take out 6 people it is because I'm dodging not eating. Spiders that tank my bullets can actually kill me quite effectively.

Reducing something by a factor of 3 is ridiculous. Especially since you have never used lanc and don't know how often leeching actually works. I can fire off 3 sets of bullets in succession using just my normal energy. Understand? That means if I do clear out the FR I've only gotten a single Leech to do it. You basically want to reduce that possibility to a 3rd, that is bullshit and you know it. It is the same as using an energy tank.

I don't think you should have the power to single out a certain ship. Right now I am at a very high rank, 47, that is higher than most peoples ships in a very powerful ship, of course I'm going to overpower a lot of people. The levis can shoot level 3s and still tank my lvl2s.

All my ship can basically do is shoot off bullets. It is slow and has crummy recharge. The best thing about it is leeching it is the only real perk. You take that away you are being a total dick and showing huge bias by singling out a ship you don't use. People used to complain more about the spiders early on when they got super, and the weasels who can port and cloak and a million other things.

You think it is fair to reduce the only good upgrade for lanc to a third of its current value? that would make the maximum leech possible lower than what I have now with only 3/5 upgrades. You want me to slave away to get less of what I already have. Total bullshit man, complete failure of leadership.

I've solved the case! You're just nerd raging because I said I was going to suggest to qan that he reduce the leeching a bit. I don't want to get sucked into this whole thing, I have my reasons and they are good ones. The problems will continue, TW is dying anyway. I like basing and I like spidering. I thought distension made this more available. But the spider has become underpowered since everyone can tank, I was forced to upgrade from nothing my lanc which did take a while. Now people want to make the lanc less powerful because nobody else can unlock it. Very democratic, lets just fuck up anything we cant have right?

Overall the worst thing is the schedule. It's just really fucking up my evenings and I know I'm wasting too much time with it. I get home from the gym and I got maybe an hour tops to eat something, shower and then sit around 10 minutes for it to start. If you don't get there right on time it fills up and you have to wait another 20 to 30 minutes to play. It's just not worth it anymore, and the game play has gotten worse. I played ?go base randomly for the first time in a long while and enjoyed it far more. I know people will get bored with Distension, there are a lot of things that need to be addressed.

I know I can be a dick sometimes, but I think part of that is this game and the frustration it causes. I'm a very mellow person in real life. When you know people are running something poorly and you can't change it, that obviously is going to piss you off. Being the lanc is like being a second class citizen because everyone resents you. People always heckle you, but get over it, I earned the fucking ship, and I didn't do it by camping. Now cause I can actually dodge bullets I need to be penalized? There are tons of problems with the team balance, the terrs, the levis, the weasels, etc, but first priority is to fuck with a ship that only 2 people use regularly? Come on, it's just ridiculous, they had a beta to test the ships out, maybe the people who earned the lanc are actually good? And when you give a good ship to a good player they are going to dominate?

OK I have typed too much, but I'm serious I'm not playing it anymore, a lot of people will probably be happy about this, but I can't stick to this schedule and harassment anymore. Good luck everyone.

A ban should be the last resort. Surely there should be no bans at all unless a previous warning has been disregarded. Staff who fail to warn before banning need to be warned themselves and should lose their powers if they disregard it.

Dist Staff should follow the same protocol as the rest of TW. The fact they arnt is indictive of their attitude of treating Distension as their own little toy, and have free reign to do what they please.
As I said a few pages ago, if allowed to continue its only going to severily damage the game.

First of all, yes, I was going to suggest leech went from 15% to 5% per level. Does anyone that doesn't play Lancaster think this is unfair?

You propose nerfing by a factor of 3 the most powerful mid-range special of a ship widely considered balanced at end of beta? Without any compensating bonus I don't see how anyone can think that is fair.

I don't have a lanc at the moment but I certainly hope to play one regularly along with spider and warbird. I would expect lanc to have kill/survival specials that match the spider energy tank and super and the warbird escape pod.

Look, I've seen Lancasters take out 7-8 people in a row, one by one, in the flagroom because of the leech.

The chances of this being purely due to leech is under 3% even if it was the one player currently able to have 60% leeching. My spider super also takes out that many occasionally and I don't even have L2s yet. With a little time for recharge, a little skill and a little luck I would expect any high level kill ship to be able to get this kind of streak.

Yes 60% full charge per kill is a huge advantage but so are many other specials in the game such as regenerating bursts/portals, escape pods, super and energy tank. They don't make you invincible. Adapting your tactics to deal with powerful specials is part of the game.

From what I've been told you were flying around really cautiously and sniping people so you would be able to keep your extra crap which is why Aqua got pissed, and I probably would have too. Anyway, I already talked to Aqua about it, and I'll unban you when I get the chance (which won't be until the 9pm session at the earliest).

Two things:

1. I was in a WEASEL. How the hell do I fly around cautiously and snipe in a weasel that cant tank a level 2. I rocketed into aqua as a suicide, she just missed her bullet. Also, it was apparent she was trying to get weasel, as I got a 50% kill streak ender bonus. Personal vendetta.

2. Aqua said she would unban me after the session was over. She did not. Nor did I get unbanned today at the 1PM host, which I sat semi afk in spec the ENTIRE period to see if anyone would come assist me. I am STILL distension banned, and from what I understand, the !unban command is faulty and doesn't work properly, last time qan had to manually do something.
