And I call bullshit on crap about buying a degree at that level. Influence might help in getting a person in, but no one gets a free ride all the way through a Masters in an Ivy league school.

Fact is, Bush is one of the best educated and one of the highest degreed presidents this country has had. However his public speaking skills are about as bad as they can be, but that says nothing about a person's intelligence. As far as history goes, George Washington never spoke publicly for more than ten minutes because his false teeth required him to keep his jaws clenched. Lincoln's first inaugural address was about as unimpressive and boring as you can get.

But the power of speech, both what is said and how it is spoken, is of critical importance in today's media driven politics. And no question that Bush sucks at public speaking.

But you guys are making a huge assumption about the man's intelligence. I work with, and have hired, people who have monster IQ's and are many times more intelligent than myself (and you guys too). But know what? Some of these people are complete social misfits, then can't stand in front of anyone and construct more than two coherent sentences.

It would serve many of you well if you stopped making the huge assumption that a person’s intelligence is related to a person’s public speaking ability. It isn’t.

Now if you simply don’t him, just say it. But making assumptions and being critical of his intelligence is only demonstrating either that you have a bias view if him or that you aren’t checking the facts.
No, I am not an Ivy league student, but I have been offered a full ride scholarship to attend Johns Hopkins University  I dunno if I'm gonna take it though. Thus, I don't consider myself too stupid, and I can tell ya, compared to past president's, such as Clinton, Bush is soooooo unsavy that it is painful to watch him speak.

Anyways, it's not Bush that pisses me off that much, because he is just a tool. It's the Cheney's, the Rumsfeld's, and the Rove's that piss me off way more than president Bush being a puppet. Have you heard about the recent altercation between Cheney and Jack Murtha? Well, recently, Rep. Murtha went to Iraq, and witnessed what he believes is the lack of drive and ability to win the war. So, Murtha, usually a soft spoken Congressman, who sits in the corner and doesn't make waves, came out and said we need to remove our troops from Iraq right now. The Republicans were pissed of course, and almost got into a fist fight with the democrats in the house. Well, Cheney just had to pipe in and call Murtha unpatriotic, and a coward. The twist is: Murtha is a Vietnam vet., who served two tours of duty and received 3 purple hearts. Dick Cheney on the other hand, received 5 deferments and was able to dodge the draft......Something is wrong.

Soon, it was Murtha who called an el contrare mon frere, and turned Cheney's arguments back on him. Now Murtha is sort of the crusader the Dems are rallying behind.

Put this on top of an unpopular war, an approval rating of 38%, a 30 trillion dollar debt, the resignation of Libby, the accusations against Rove, the uproar around DeLay, a lack-luster response to the biggest national disaster to hit America, a constant flow of double speak, a terrible election of a friend to the Supreme Court, A widening of the gap between the rich and the poor, his inability to take criticism, and Bush's constant lack of concern or care for what the American people have to say, and I'd say you have the worst president/administration since Hoover.

the reason why bush & co keeps bringing up 9/11 is because it was an inside job problem-reaction-solution staged event to get done what they want to get done. The new pearl harbor, riechstag fire.

                  2) you think i havent explained in the past or theres no logic to problem-reaction-solution

Umm ... Bachelor of Engineering (Telecommunications), Bachalor of Commerce(major: Economics, Minor: Marketing), Master of Business (Major: Finance, Minor: Business Laws) - all in 7 years from the University of Sydney - one of the best uni in Australia with more than 150 years history. I graduated from my master this year and is on my 5th professional job (I always worked while in the school/uni).

I consider this to be pretty good, expecially since I racked up like 4000+ hours on SS alone (oh no, it is not the only game that I play). I was also drunk most of the times when I was in uni - not anymore coz I put on too much weight.

Did I mention I have honours in Engineering (the only degree that I can have honour without having to do at least 6 extra months. I was also on 2 scholarships ...

Is this ... like ... good enough for you?

Just because some smart people can't make a decent public presentation, doesn't make all the idiots who can't talk smart.

He has a master degree? Big deal. I have seen tones of retards getting postgrad degrees. Things like political science postgrad requires you can copy and paste from other peoples articles. Well you have to understand those articles so you can modify it (then they become 'yours'), but be able to comprehend English is the pre-requisit of entering a normal high school, it is not like it requires anything special.

Well, English is only my 2nd language. Saying I am doing good is an understatement.

Maybe I haven't be humble in this post but at least I was so damn honest

What I got from Telcat's post was that she argued against Ephemeral by using herself as an example of not needing intelligence to earn degrees from a prestigious institution.

Exactly my thoughts. Being a professional student is somehow a sign of intelligence?

I wasn't arguing that being highly degreed made a person smart. I was trying to get people to understand that factors such as leadership, wisdom, experience also contribute to being a good president.

I swear trying to get people to even consider moderation in an emotional discussion about Bush is a waste of time. I guess people are content with being completely in line with Tone. Frankly if I were in total agreement with Tone on a topic I would have to question my understanding and perspective.

Funnily enough... That's exactly what i got. ^-^

I don't believe academic qualifications show much anymore, i've got too many friends with degrees who are stuck driving taxis or shop working because everyone and his dog has a degree in this fucking country.
High level NVQ's/AVCE's are worth more to employers as they're rarer.
