And most European countries in the position too support the Allies did during World War 2.

There is no stability in Iraq and Afghanistan. We are losing Afghanistan to the Taliban and Iran is stronger then ever in the region all because of Iraq. Hundreds of thousands have died because of the invasion made on false pretenses about the threat Iraq posed to the world. Invading and occupying a country to impose a bastardized version of democracy does not work.

What is wrong with criticizing a Government? Democracy includes freedom of expression and conscience. If you want to talk about hypocrisy...

I fully understand your position being in a country subject to Religious Fundamentalism and social unrest. Because I support a non-interventionist foreign policy does not mean I support terrorism or have a preference towards oppressive regimes. I support military involvement in situations that warrants it. If any country willfully attacks another without similar provocation or cause, then that would be a reasonable cause for intervention. If a country is committing genocide even in the context of a civil war that also would be a reasonable cause.

Ummm... read the news lately? And what's wrong with that? I don't want my country turned to shit because some fucking monkey wanted to "spread Democracy".

We do have the best military in the world, and we keep it that way to ward off countries that want to take what we have away from us.

Everyone hates the US right now around the world, but just look back 20 years ago, you were loving the US and on the US side because we were fighting the cold war against the bigger enemy, Russia.

I don't think Europe felt very comfortable with the Soviet Union knocking on their back door during those times, and they supported the US because we actually DID something to stop them.

The reason you have what you have now is because the US policies during times like the Cold War and even WW2. Maybe the US policies nowadays are not the best, but you do still owe a lot to the United States of America.

And if you want to keep saying how we didn't join in ww2 til way later, well, then I say we shouldn't have helped you at all. You would all be nazis right now, and probably your ancestors would have hit the gas chambers.

I will say that all of your countries in Europe LET the Nazis do what they wanted, and they murdered millions of jewish people and eastern europeans and pretty much anyone they didn't like. Your countries allowed that to happen. You said nothing when they sent off the jews to the gas chambers. You could smell the burning flesh from your houses yet you did nothing. Well guess what? The US, the Canadians, the Australians, the British, hell even the Russians, we DID do something.

So next time you want to cry about the US, cry about the other countries and how they didn't give a shit about their people during ww2, which was only 60 years ago.

The people who represent Europe here, are kinda hypocrite. You see, they sit here with the circle of righteousness above their head, gentle souls who can't stand the fact that people get killed by someone.

But they don't want to see the fact that those counties USA went to war against, were leaded by dictators who believed in Ideology that is the opposite to what they (the Europeans) believe. What human rights were in Iraq and Afghanistan? How many people died BEFORE USA got there?

But you wonder why voices from Europe are complaining? They let millions of Muslims to immigrate from Asia and Africa. Maybe they are just fear that what USA is having in Iraq, will come to their own home continent. The media is very biased there. We were like shocked here to see how much lies and bullshit the media in UK and France delivered to Europe. One side story about how an army is killing "innocent" people.

Our spending on the military is extremely low. Even the Conservatives are not willing to spend enough to bring us up to NATO standards. We probably would spend more without our alliances.

Regardless our Naval forces are interchangeable. But again any force powerful enough to invade the North American continent would be a nuclear power, meaning it would trigger a nuclear war between two or more parties. That's game over for planet Earth.

There was wide spread discrimination against Jewish people. There are documented cases of immigrant ships coming into New York and being rejected, the same with Canada. There are also cases where we knew of the camps but didn't bomb them, didn't do anything to prevent the transportation of the people being sent to their death. It's not our fault that it happened or that of the allied European nations at the time. We all fought to end it.

I don't know where all of this WW2 stuff came from but it's silly. Our history is what binds the West today, how we acted together to stop true evil of the day and prevailed. What it does teach us is it didn't give us a free pass on the world. There are still threats out there, different opinions and oppressive regimes to deal with. I think most people today understand is that the War on Terrorism is not very popular among any nation and does not represent the wishes of the American people, nor is it being executed properly where military operations are necessary. And while we do need to stand up to China and Russia this resurgence of Neoconservativism policy on foreign relations in the United States can end our civilization. Vietnam is a good example of this as is Iraq. The fear today is that the disconnect between politicians and the people they represent is so wide that Democracy can't right this wrong, and may allow another war to begin further putting our future in jeopardy.

I really shouldn't even be responding, because Wark man, you missed my point entirely. After this, I'm just going to leave it to Troll King's beautiful one line posts.

The fact that America sent supplies, is all fine and dandy Wark, but it doesn't defeat my point. I've actually done 3 history courses, because I enjoyed them, and I'm a dropout with half of school to finish. You can call me an idiot for not being able to do Grade 12 Math, but don't insult my history. The point is, you didn't engage in combat until you were attacked, that was my point. Sending supplies, doesn't mean you're in a war, it means you're helping one side of a war.

The only reason I started saying the things I did about America, was you insulted my country. What does it matter if we don't have a massive military? Did you ever stop to think some people maybe proud of what we do have? Go check out who wins basic war games, I maybe wrong here, but I'm pretty sure we've either kicked your ass, or done very well considering that we have 'no military'.

That isn't random speculation either, because I know people who have particpated in them. Both lines of my family have extremely decorated military traditions on both land and water. We've fought were it counted, and I personally still consider going to help clean up the mess in Afganhistan. Mostly because I'm the last male from both lines, and it would be an extremely dishonorable thing to not serve in the military as every male before me has. In fact, I hear a little too much bitching about us not being stronger, and far too few thank yous for going around the world, cleaning up the countries you wreck, and then leave.

America, is one of the greatest countries in the world. Is it the best? No it isn't. Is it the greatest of all time, definatly not. Still, it's fucking up there. So why, WHY do you insist on blowing everything WAY out of proportion in everyone of your posts. Why do you always have to throw around the fact that you have a huge military, so you're awesome. Fuck how about your culture? Your people? Your acheivements (excluding weapons technology)? Your famous leaders, and people who have changed the world. If you're going to argue that the States is the greatest nation to ever be - at least do it right.

Edit- 404 come to Ottawa! Uhm we have nice buildings here and there, and Bluesfest, and the downtown market, and uhmmm, hehe hard to make Ottawa sound awesome :P It is a nice place to live, but so is BC. Two of my best friends moved out there recently.

I'm pretty sure if we were in a war as opposed to a conflict we would not be using the same precautions that we are using now in Iraq/Afghanistan to ensure that innocent people dont get killed (i know im about to get flamed for that, but its true). If we were in a war with a country that could actually fight back and they tried using guerilla tactics, we would just bomb the shit out of whatever it may be. The difference between a war with china and a war with Iraq is that it wouldnt be looked down on if we did 'whatever we had to' to beat china

No, I have never been in the military, but should the actual need arise, I would join. Anyways back to the main point.

First off Capital, Get your history straight before you try to berate me for being an idiot. America had already been helping the allied nations with ammunitions and supplies even before this happened, which we knew would eventually draw us into a war. After Pearl Harbor happened, and we declared war on Japan, Hitler and Italy declared war on us. The reason we didn't jump into war sooner was because we knew the threat of the Japanese. It doesn't take a genius to look back in history and see the numerous occasions in which fighting a two front war ended in the countries defeat.

Next, There has never been a country as powerful as America, and the fact that we DIDN'T use to give a shit what Canada or any other terrible country thought that made us great. We did as we pleased if it made us a stronger country, be it polluting the world, drilling for our own oil, defending democracy against communism or anything else for that matter. Do you think your country would be here if not for the U.S. being right here to protect you? With your pathetic military and French-like tendencies for cowardice, you would have been destroyed long ago, by a more powerful nation who didn't care if you wanted to remain peaceful and really didn't give a shit whether or whether not you tried to stay out of every other countries business. I don't see how you can sit back and try to say that America hasn't for the most part used its powers in the world for good. And so what about Vietnam, it was because of a weak president that that war was ended in the first place, a stronger president who was more willing to see it through would have finished it up, we had the power to. And now look at North Korea, they are almost if not already nuclear ready. Wouldn't it have been better if America had stayed its course and stopped them when we had the chance? Don't forget even if America is destroyed, your country will crumble soon after, and any Nuclear bombs detonated in our country will also affect yours. But instead you like to thumb your nose at our power and look down on it, as if it isn't saving your ass as well.

As for the Olympics comment, I merely said that because it shows you what happens when the citizens of a country rely too heavily on the government to do anything on their own, they fail miserably. Don't get me wrong, Communist countries like Russia and China have a government very similar to your socialism, however the difference is they don't give a shit at all about their citizens, as long as they obey orders when and how they are told to. I am not saying thats a good thing, but it seems to me like when somebody insults Canada from America, your only retort is to insult America. If you insulted my country, I would not only say whats terrible about Canada, but also say why America is the greatest country that ever was, is, and ever will be in the world.

Last I would just like to say that the most powerful countries in the world right now are Russia, China, and America in terms of physical and technological power. The thing about America is, during any serious threat such as WW2.. all of the petty bickering and bitching in the country, are gone, America comes together, with our corporations, in a common goal of the survival of freedom. This is why there is no war machine like America's. China and Russia might have the people, the capabilities to produce as much as we do, but we do so freely for the love of our country, not out of fear of death. That is why during wartime, America becomes innovative, and efficient. Like it or not, soon there will be the time where your country will have to decide whether to bow down to communism, or fight for your freedom, and you should be damn lucky that the most powerful of the worlds superpowers is a supporter of the freedoms that you enjoy.
