The veteran Martyr discount is much better.
People who are rather more than six feet tall and nearly as broad across the shoulders often have uneventful journeys. People jump out at them from behind rocks then say things like, "Oh. Sorry. I thought you were someone else."

No they just want to boycott Danish products now, nice try at attempting to appear important. Why would they boycott Norweigan products when the cartoons were initially printed by a Danish paper? Did the two picture editors of the papers have a pact to print the cartoons at the same time? They've also been reprinted by lots of other European countries, most notably the French where they had race riots last year. So again, why Norway? You're insignificant

as I live 15 minutes away from the danish capital Copenhagen, and visit it very often (as late as yesterday actually :x), this has been pretty big here. Specially since the swedes were also targeted at first but that was more of a missunderstanding when some silly groups didnt know sweden and denmark was different. Anyway, here are my 2 cents..

the danish newspaper didnt really do anything wrong posting these satir images of mohammed.. at least not legally. Denmark has a freedom of speech and they used it and its okey. the thing is tho that Denmark is a very nationalistic country (almost racist some would say) and muslims are a small minority in the country and its an discussion that has been going on for several years how they are gonna treat immigrants and all that stuff.
When using satire I think its important to remember that it "should" always focus on targetting the majorities, not the minorities and specially not in a country where the minority is already treated really bad. Still tho the newspaper didnt do anything legally wrong but maybe morally but they were really not there to amuse people but it was more of a political act.

I think the guy who really caused this mess is no one else than the danish prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen. When the muslim orangisations in denmark demanded to see him and express their feelings towards these images he refused to see them and laughed and said it was not serious enough to get a meeting with him or w/e.. He could ahve easily explained to them how its a newspaper using the freedome of speech and said it was tasteless or something similar. he totally underestimated the importance of this :/

actually he is not entirly wrong.. its built on a missunderstanding. Some guys thought it was a norwegian author (but in a danish paper) who was behind the article and his picture was spread all over the muslim world (well almost) and was in the news etc. they were burning his photo and stuff like that!

edit: some people are so full of hate that they dont really care who they hate as long as they can hate!

i agree with mantra on this one.

I think it is also a bit of a culture clash as satire is part of our culture and i've seen many cartoons of the pope, jesus etc... So its not as if we don't poke fun at our own religions. But for a fundamentalist radical muslim it is different, they already feel persecuted and as if the west as an agenda against them and things like this just play to there fears just as the news channels here showing the minority of these radicals overacting as if the entire muslim world acts like that.

It would be like saying those evangelicals who protest gay marriages and threaten Abortion Doctors etc.... represent the whole of christianity and the west.

In my opinion things like this are causing a rift between Muslims and the west and has alot to do with how these things are portrayed in the media. Both sets of media seem to be sensationalising every little thing into a huge circus. I'm sure Al-Jazeera it provided little background on the fact that there is a history of satire of our own religious figures but more as look at what the west really think of our prophet. And all the media i've seen seems to be 'silly muslims overact again' when it was blasphamous to their religion.

I agree, yet there is a point of where the governments of these nations West and Muslim Mid-East need to bridge the gaps.

In Palestine : Palestinian gunmen demand an apology for the Danish cartoons, one of which shows the Prophet Mohammad wearing a turban shaped like a bomb. They set a 48-hour deadline. We will watch the office closely and if European countries continued their assaults against Islam and against the Prophet Mohammad, we will turn this office into ruins,” a spokesman for the Yasser Arafat Brigades told Reuters.

This in itself shows that there is no police as well as laws that would stop this from happening.

To destroy a building and make threats such as this are seen in a western CIVILIZED nation as anarchy.

It is not to say all muslims are reacting to this cartoon like the rogue muslim nations in the news. I just cannot understand why the governments of these nations cannot squelch these fanatical groups for taking the laws into their own hands.

Should all western nations destroy mosques when an innocent hostage is taken and killed on video for the sake of their relegious beliefs? As well as blowing ones self up in a market so they can be with there 90+ virgins?

It reminds me of when I was a kid...there was a stupid saying "Not included in anything you say, all included in whatever I say, All included!"
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

its religious fanatics though, very hard to police when your country is very religious and its the consensus of the people is that it was blasphemy to print those cartoons, and by their religion it was.

I seen a muslim palestine leader saying this over reaction wasn't helping there cause. However its hard to come down hard on them when its probably the same ppl who got hamas to win in the recent election so public sympathy and support is with them. Its not a stable nation and its hard to effectively police that. During their troubles ppl like hamas have won the support of a lot of the local ppl who seen them as trying to protect them. They set up clinics and schools which were much needed but i'm sure they also used them to get there own message across.

In the west religion has been mainly separated from education, however there are still those raised and fervently believe in creationism should be taught and not evolution. Why haven't those fanatics been stamped out?

Its even harder to stamp them out when religion is deep in your schooling and government.

Any Fanatical Right Wing group of any religion from any country will come across in the same manor.

At what point do you draw a line and say wake the F up and get with the program?

I understand that Palestine's laws are based upon there religious beliefs. In the States when the Puritans where settling in the New England States, they would burn people for being accused of witchcraft. Maybe they where correct, as their beliefs in religion where the law of the land and if they still did that somewhere in this world today should we would just acknowledge it as part of their religion, just as the Spanish Inquisition was justified in the actions they committed?

At some point there needs to be a line drawn between the two.

All I want to know is why these people do not have jobs and all they do is burn flags, threaten people and countries and shoot guns off in the air? Maybe I am missing the point and this is how one gets ahead in life to better ones self? If Religion runs every aspect of the daily life in these Mid-East Countries, why do they need monetary & food aid? Why do the other rich OPEC nations seem to ignore the pleas from these poor nations? Or should that be supplied from the direction of the prophet as well as god? The fact that they need this aid and yet do little to contribute back to the process is disheartening.

Hypothetically, what would happen if 99.9% of the world would stop purchasing OPEC countries oil exports? What would they do and how would they survive economically? Not that this will happen anytime soon, but it's interesting to think of what the contributions to the world would be from these religious run governments when the rest of the world has become a World Interdependent group of countries economically surviving of the trade/commerce of one another.

Amazing what a stupid cartoon can do.
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

Here are the cartoons that started it all-

My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.
