Cloakers Ruining TW. Not "Balance"

Sarien, your right, the 2 pure basing pubs are probably the most popular, but you cannot make all of the pubs that way, then you would loose alot of people who like to play as warbird, cloaker, leviterring.

you cannot force everyone to base. i think pub basing is good, but so is having fun, which is what the game is about.. if your style of fun is being a cloaker, fair play to you. if its basing, goto the pure basing pub..

remember... if all else fails, why dont u just goto ?go base ?

Pure Pubs were basing arenas, yes yes, but, they had to make two and had to get rid of priv freqs in the first one because there were so many people warbirding, and cloaking for shits and giggles, right?
The second pure pub remains full of people doing that, so to the extent to make all pubs pure? I mean change the settings for the lev. Those two arenas are wildly popular for people basing for obvious reasons, they're popular with cloakers and warbirds because they're free to fight it out, and don't have to worry about a wild LT nailing a wall or rock or something near them and screwing their whole game up.

So who would be left unhappy? LT's. If they leave? Too bad. If you really want to do them a favor, make a ?go levterr and let em go turret wild in there. The pure pubs started as a gift to the basing peoples, yes, but they are so wildly popular because -everybody- likes it. That's my point, and what and why the staff need to at least -try- and take their cues off of.

Shit, try no levs or changed levs in all pubs for a week, and get a reading of what the players think, and I bet you'll see lots of pubbers happier with the change.

Faster speed, say slightly slower or on par with Jav
Jav turn rate
No bullets
Yellow bombs, no bounce or red bombs, no bounce, no emp
Recharge rate of Lanc
Keep repel and rocket, get rid of mine

'm jus throwin this out there, didn't really think of it but it could work like this...

It would still be a heavy artillery(sp?) thanks to the higher recharge rate, so it could fire off a yellow/red bomb, wait a couple seconds, then fire again.

It wouldn't be able to hit the same shots as Javs because of the no bounce, but it wouldn't have the clearing power of the blue bomb.

Or what about multi yellow bomb? If that's possible, make it so if you pick up multifire you get multibomb. Have same or slightly better recharge rate as normal Levi but make it faster in terms of speed and turn rate.

Or something, I dunno. Bored, just wanted to throw ideas out there.

I'm not sure why you guys are at each other's throats. It's obvious what za gophar was after/doing, but you other two are on pretty much the same page I think. Well other than Spidermage actually likes the lev for some reason. Banning it from a couple arenas isn't the only solution. Changing the settings for the ship to not have an ability previously removed from the game, would do the trick. (Nailing a bunch of people by shooting a wall is the equivalent of the wall not being there, in other words: a thor)

My entire point is that, when you look at the popularity of the two arenas you made a change in, not just for one kind of pubber but 4/5ths, why wouldn't you think about incorporating that into the whole scheme?

I agree Pure, for basing I think Levis were a problem because this game isn't really geared really well to having something with that much power attacking the base. It's different in other games, but here being removed was the only option unless they could have found a way to change it to fit basing, which I don't think is possible. People need to get over the fact that ships have shortcomings as well as strengths, which may include and do include being easy prey for a specific ship or two.

And Sar, I have a taste for the Levi because 've always liked using the bigger weapons, though I mostly stick to the average weapons. In Halo 2 if I can get my hands on a rocket launcher, I will by all means take it, or even go after it and use it first. Tribes it was the heavy armor and mortar launcher, but then again those are both FPS, so they are better incorporated. But that's the reason why I like Levis, it's always nice to have a rocket launcher, but it's best to stick with the SMG because it works in almost all situations, if you get my meaning.

Regarding leviterrs, I actually find that they're interesting to hunt, challenging to play, and they keep you on your toes while basing, so I suppose I'm one of the few frequent pubbers who dislikes pure pub even when I feel like casual basing. If anything, I'd like to see a no priv freq arena with levis allowed, so that they can be used as a strategic tool for a freq rather than a bounty joyride. You'd need good coordination between the lt and the rest of the freq in order to maximize effectiveness and minimize TKs. A leviterr-enabled version of base might also be fun if, as a lameness check, each TK gave the opposing freq a 10 sec clock bonus. It would force you to reconsider the overwhelmingly prevalent strategy of cramming the FR entrance and increase the importance of midbase defense.

The only problem I really see with them is when there're several running around constantly, which is due to the fact that they're so easy to create because of the practice of greening (which, I must confess, I do all the time, because it's convenient). I think that a better solution than all pure pubs might be something along the lines of removing all but the bottom safe, increasing the required bounty for attachment to 30+, and removing the ability to retain bounty while freq swapping in safe, all of which would make it much more difficult to create a leviterr.

Tell you what, Tone. You can take away the stealth and cloak ability of the Weasel. People are still going to bitch about something. A few examples: "The Weasel's size makes it too hard to hit." "The Warbird is a newbie ship!" "Terrier bursts always kill now, that's lame." "The new Lancaster settings suck, put them back!" Whatever you're trying to accomplish, your childish whining isn't going to get it done. I suggest you rethink your position on things.

Oh, and as for you telling me that Weasels are more detrimental to basing than LT's: go to a non-pure pub and try basing instead of jacking off in the spawn zone, and tell me how long you last before you feel like headbutting your monitor. Then come and make 300 more threads that all say the same shit.
